Man, I LOVE Bruce Willis... but I hate these Singers-gone-Actors. I may have to splurge some money *just* because Willis is in it.
I watched Dream Girls tonight, in between studying for exams. It was VERY well done.
Bruce Willis is in...maybe 4 scenes throughout the movie, he's doing an "interview" in the beginning and end, and then he shows up maybe 2-3 times throughout.
I know I already said it, but just be forewarned that the movies focus is around drugs and a lot of "adult" scenes ;).

I have just watched The world's fastest Indian, now even though this was filmed partly in NZ, produced by a NZ'er and written about a NZ'er , i really had no interest in the movie, my hubby had the DVD lean't to him and I decided to watch it, even though i really thought it was not my kinda of movie, how wrong could i be it was excellent.
Just worth a mention to anyone who want's to know how kiwi's talk,,myself included, you will also hear some of our sayings too, and if you get the DVD you will see some beautiful scenery of the south island of my country, also an interesting fact, the guy who plays frank and is on the stage with Anthony Hopkins at his party, is in fact the mayor of one of our cities Invercargill, bottom of the NZ, he is and always has been a rather eccentric character.
I was suprised at how much i enjoyed it, and Anthony did a pretty good job of our accent, although i have to say i did hear what i thought was a bit of British and Irish come through, and it was a little overdone, but not bad for a novice, lol.

I watched these movies in the last couple weeks...
The Clerks II - Funny, but not as much as I expected it to be.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning - Awesome, I really enjoyed this one.
Bully - I loved this movie as well.
Wicker Park - It brought tears to my eyes lol!
Pulse - It was okay.
Cars - A GREAT movie! I really enjoyed it!
We purchase our movies with Shaw On Demand (with the remote). It is pretty cheap, and you get the movie for 24 hours. :)

Well just watched Brick last night, hmm what can I say, if anyone can enlighten me on this movie, i would be grateful, i know it was all to do with this girl dying and the drug scene, but even though i consider myself and hubby of reasonable intelligence i really got lost with this film.

I watched Pan's Labyrinth last weekend. It was really good despite being in Spanish and all. They had subtitles, much like in Passion of the Christ, so it was easy to understand. A bit gory and had very foul language, but it had a wonderful storyline and was really fun to watch. I highly recommend it to those who like fantasy, or just like a good movie in general. However, not for those that are scared of bugs and don't like a bit of blood! :p

I sure wish someone had reviewed The Libertine for me before i hired it out, it was disgusting, it really did put me off Johnny Depp now, and i love that guy, yes he still was a good actor in it, but i am suprised he did this awful kind of movie.. :( very very disappointing.

I finally got to see Crash, this would have to be one of the best movies i have seen in a long time, awesome, i had heard such good things about it , and expected to be disappointed, but i was not.
Also saw friends with money, hmm cannot say i was overjoyed at this movie, it was ok, had some funny parts in it, it was average, could have ended better too.

That's an incredible movie. Disturbing, but very good.
I saw Babel last night. Another disturbing but wonderful movie. I thought the music in it was intense and haunting and perfect. I plan to buy the soundtrack, for sure. I did notice that one particular song was also on the soundtrack for The Insider with Russell Crowe, and it was one of my favorites on that soundtrack as well. I didn't watch the Oscars this year, but Babel won for best music. :) Now, I know why!

I saw "Are we done yet?" on friday evening with two of my friends. It's the sequel to "Are we there yet?". It was cute, and I enjoyed it but it's nothing to write home about. I wouldn't buy it, most likely I'd just rent it if you want to see it.
I just saw "rent" because my sister is obsessed and made me watch it. Let's just say it's was a complete waste of time/life. All they did was moan and complain through the whole movie. It was so boring too, not reccommended by me, that's for sure!

It was during that scene that I left Justin to finish watching it by himself. He then fast forwarded past the rest of that scene and finished the movie. I was totally turned off by the whole movie. I knew I wasn't going to care for it, but I hated it more than I thought I would. For the most part Justin liked it though.

Borat had it's moments ,some of which was funny, but it did not capture my attention that much, i was busy texting my son at the time, so i guess i was not that interested, it takes alot to keep me sitting down still and watching a movie though i can tell you,it was just such an unexpected scene, cannot say it did much for me, but you had to try and look at the funny side of it i guess.

Every weekend we've gone to go a see a new summer movie. I need to post on three movies I've seen.
I saw Spider-Man 3 and I loved it. I had heard that lots of people were disappointed but I absolutely loved it. I thought all the drama between Peter and MJ was well done, as well as all the new villian conflict. I gave it an 8 out of 10 stars.
Then the following week I went to go see 28 weeks later. I loooved it! I don't get grossed out by movies so I liked this one, but I'm not sure everyone will as it is gory. I loved how they made the 'safe city' type thing where the virus wasn't able to get to and everything, but still did. I also think there's going to be a 28 months later because of the ending. 7 out of 10 stars.
Yesterday I went to see Shrek the Third and really loved it. I didn't really want to see it because in the trailer it wasn't that funny for me, but I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the jokes were for younger kids but they still got a few chuckles out of the adults. I went with my three older brothers and they were all laughing throughout the movie as well. I gave it a 9 out of 10 stars.

I had a good time watching Shrek 3. It was very funny. We were all laughing through the entire movie. Cute family movie, and I enjoyed it. Nothing to write home about, but it was well done. Forgot to mention that THEY didn't ruin Shrek with any of the sequels. :)
OK now onto the important stuff. I AM GOING ON FRIDAY to see POTC 3, since I have school off and it starts at 3:15 here, so as of now I'm going with like 4 people. Maybe more!! I AM SO EXCITED!

Enjoyed Blades of Glory, a light hearted comedy, bit over the top in places, but enjoyable entertainment, just what i needed right now, judging by the audience it was well liked, the new cinema was great too, much bigger seats and great sound,if you want a bit of a laugh go along and see it.

I have just recently seen Love Actually and I am hooked. I have watched it three times so far since my first viewing of it about a month ago. It is one of the best romantic comedies I have ever seen. Just gets me all warm and fuzzy. It's cheesy in parts, but love is cheesy sometimes. :D I recommend it to anyone, it's got enough of humor in it even for the men.
There's a scene where a guy tells the girl to say he's singing Christmas carols, and I'm not kidding...that scene is brilliant and so touching and sweet. I couldn't believe it when I saw it!

I LOVE that movie! It breaks my heart everytime that older woman (I think it's Vanessa Redgrave) opens her Xmas present from her husband and she thinks it's a piece of jewlery (which he bought for his lover) but it ends up being a Joni Mitchell CD. And I just love the song they play when she is just aching and trying to stop crying. Ugh...I cry every time.
And when Hugh Grant goes to find Natalie and has to sing a Christmas carole for the little kids and the little kids are dancing? It's so funny.
And I love the part you're talking about. And in the end, that guy says "enough." Ugh...breaks my heart.
Now I want to watch it!

Don't give away too much of it! That's part of the greatness, all the little surprises, good and bad. But, yeah, those parts all get to me. Hugh Grant is a dream. And, the actress who loves Joni Mitchell is Emma Thompson.

Just some we've seen in the past month are The Queen, Night at the Museum, Norbit, Shooter, Zodiac, The Departed, Dead Silence, 300, Epic Movie, Hot Fuzz and The Illusionist. I finally saw Talladega Nights and really laughed.
I've seem parts of several movies and hope to catch the rest some other time, especially Premonition and The Astronaut's Wife.

I saw Norbit in the weekend, it was ok, funny in places, but then i am not easily entertained, average movie really i thought.

Hubby and I are currently watching movies practically every night. From Lori's list, we have also watched Queen, Shooter, Zodiac, and The Illusionist. Shooter has made me a Mark Walhberg fan - that movie was sooo good and is not even my type of movie. Similar to Illusionist - we watched The Prestige and found it so intriguing that I bought a copy to watch again and try to figure out some of the twists and turns!. Premonition was fantastic - I still find myself thinking about that movie and trying to figure out some of the things that happened and I *think* I have it :)
Yesterday we actually went to a theater and watched 3:10 to Yuma. LOVED it!! Like an old fashioned shoot-em-up, only better! Christian Bale and Russel Crowe were good and the way it was filmed in a big expansive way was also great visually.
In the previews I saw two movie coming out with my all time favorites, Tommy Lee Jone and *Denzel Washington* :D The titles are In the Valley of Elah (jones) and American Gangster (Denzel and also Russell Crowe) Today, The Brave One with Jodie Foster comes out - I wonder if I can persuade hubby to go to the theater again?
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE movies!!
edit: did go see The Brave One this evening and I thought it was terrific!! It grabbed my attention and held it to the very end. I found myself very drawn in to the story. Again, this one was filmed with interesting camera angles - some very close and sometimes with the camera vantage seeming to draw back and upwards to give the movie more of a feeling of actually watching the story unfold. Jodie Foster was so believable in the role!

So far i have watched....
Saw II, good movie but kind of freaky. I watched it by myself Friday night, then again with friends on Sunday morning.
Pretty in pink, i usually love John Hughes movie but was not that impressed with PIP.
Snakes on a plane, i have seen it many times before and it still makes me laugh.
Seed of Chucky, i was a bit out of it whilst watching it Saturday morning, but thought it was boring... they seemed so much scarier when we were kids.

Yesterday, another $3 Tuesday movie.
Dan In Real Life with Steve Carrell.
Love strikes in the worst-possible circumstances for widower, single dad and popular family advice columnist Dan Burns when he falls for a beautiful stranger in a bookshop – only to discover she’s the very same woman his charismatic brother is about to introduce as his incredible new girlfriend at their parents' annual get-together. As the weekend gets underway, Dan and Marie scramble to hide their mutual attraction to each other, resulting in a series of hilariously awkward situations.
We both enjoyed this one - nothing world shattering, just a fun movie with great Rhode Island scenery.

I know this isn't a "movie", but Band of Brothers is absolutely a must see. Even if you're not necesssarily a fan of war films, this is a stand out among war films. It really is beautifully done, and is about real people in real situations, which makes it all the more touching. It really makes me feel proud to be an American and in complete awe and admiration of the men who fought in World War II. It is a mini-series that was on HBO a few years ago (maybe 2001) and is definitely something I plan to watch many times.
On a lighter note, I saw Surf's Up and it is great fun! I am planning to buy the soundtrack first, as it is really upbeat and makes me smile. :D

Surprisingly, I have some time to preview I am Legend for you guys before I go to school. Can't wait for WINTER BREAK!
Well, I really liked this movie. The concept was really good and seeing NYC abandoned except for those things(I think they're called Nightcrawlers) and Will Smith was pretty cool. You'll never see it like that. ;) Anyway, it was a little scary, especially for someone like me who hates scary movies.
*SPOILING WARNING*
I cried at the part where the dog died, it was really emotional because the man was left with no other companions
At first I didn't like the ending, I thought it was pretty stupid. But after thinking it over thoroughly the guy could definitely have not gotten out of the situation and I think it was for the best it ended the way it did.
*SPOILER ENDED* I am Legend is one of those movies where you have to piece it together yourself. There are some confusing parts if you don't get it like why he has to lock up when he sleeps and stuff. So overall, I liked it and enjoyed it. It was a little scary and confusing for people who aren't used to seeing movies like that. For the record, I HATE scary movies and to me that was classified as "scary enough".
Hope this helped anyone who wanted to see it but was not sure about it.

I decided to rent some movies over Christmas break... I disconnected my Direct tv about a month ago, so I haven't been watching anything (my first year without A Christmas Story in years!!! ).
I rented:
Superbad
I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry
Music and Lyrics
License to Wed
I've watch Superbad, which I thought was going to be funny, but it was just a bunch of high school boy bathroom and body humor. It wasn't even funny... it kinda matched the title of the movie.
I watched I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry for a 2nd time tonight, lol. I just kept cracking up at that one. I loved seeing the different guest stars they had in the movie (Dave Matthews as the gay shop clerk in those plaid pants, omg...). And Ving Rhames coming out as the gay firefighter was just too much... Seeing him singing I'm every woman naked, in the shower, with the other guys just staring, I about peed my pants! His bod is pretty smokin', so I did pay attention, lol. Good lord that man is ripped!
Kevin James was really good in it too... I love him from King of Queens! And the guy who plays the one friend was in the movie too, so that was cool.
Almost anything with Adam Sandler I love (Wedding Singer is the BEST). Never really got into his really odd movies, or the ones where he played a serious role, but I've watched some of those.
Will watch one of the others tomorrow... probably License to Wed, since I'm in the mood for corny movies. I'll probably have to pull out Wedding Singer too, I haven't watched that for about a year, so I'm about due for another dose of that one! :D :p

Just came back from seeing sweeny todd, i have to say it was the worst film i have ever seen, i was so bored, i hated the musical side of it, but then i do not enjoy musicals of any kind, and i agree the blood was very fake, there were a few interesting moments in the movie though and Johnny was his usual wonderful self, i won tickets to this movie, and have to say i would NEVER EVER pay to see it,if you enjoy seeing throats cut about ten times, then yep maybe it is your kinda of movie, but honestly for me i cannot see why they even make these type of movies. 2/10 for me, i nearly was going to walk out, but i wanted to see what actually happened in the end, like i said there were some good parts in it,when they were not singing. :)

I watched Sweeney Todd tonight for the second time. I rather enjoyed it. I actually enjoyed the music though the voices were terrible. I think the vulgar voices just added to the overall vulgarity of the movie. That is what I enjoyed the most about it. I found it to be very Tim Burton. I liked the fact the accents were over exaggerated and the 'special effects' were quite fake. In my opinion the vulgarity of the film is what makes it quite good.

I saw Street Kings, 21 and The Other Boelyn Girl recently.
Street Kings was mediocre. Not horrible, not outstanding. I was pretty into it for most of the movie and shockingly surprised that I was enjoying a Keanu Reeves movie. However the ending was far too rushed. There was just way too much information thrown at you all at once. Overall, it was alright.
21 was AMAZING! I loved it all! Great actors, wonderful story, intense.. it was awesome!
The Other Boelyn Girl was also fantastic. I had never cared much for history but I went home after the movie and read everything I could find about the Tudors and the Boelyns. It was an amazing movie!

Anne of the Thousand Days w/Genevieve Bujold and Richard Burton. I wanted to compare their account of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn to other movies and books. Richard Burton made me laugh; he's so dramatic. He'd wrinkle up his nose as though he was going to sneeze and then he spit out his words as though they tasted bad. It was a stormy night, though, so it was a good pasttime.

Love Guru - Absolutely lived up to my expectations.. so many funny bits. Might check it out again.
The Happening - I want the two hours of my life back. It was like they ran out of money for the movie and ended it right there. Total disappointment.
Iron Man - I LOVED this movie! The action and graphics were just wonderful. Great cast too.
Hulk - Another fantastic one. Once again, action and graphics were great.

I just finished watching Como Agua Por Chocolate. (Like Water For Chocolate)
I liked it a lot. Usually, when I like a movie, I have two reactions, I either watch it right over again, or I sit there and think about it. This one is the second. I knew nothing about it coming into it, my parents rented it and so I decided to watch it. My mom told me she originally got the book because she liked the cover, but it turned out to be one of the best books she had ever read.
It turned out to be very much like Romeo and Juliet at the end, which I wasn't expecting, but I should have guessed from the way they did the beginning.
If you've never heard of it, it's about Tita, a young woman living on a ranch in Mexico during the time of the revolution with her two sisters, mother, and maids. She is destined to never marry because she is the youngest daughter, she must take care of her mother for the rest of her life. Enter Pedro, it's love at first sight, but her mother will never allow it. I won't tell you any more since I don't want to give away the whole plot before you watch it.
Argh, I forgot that I watched Jersey Girl last night on TNT. I remember not being thrilled with it at all when I saw the trailer, but I was flipping channels and I caught the very beginning, so I watched, and I liked it.
Now I'm about to watch Firefly for the billionth time. :p I love it too much, it seems to just get better every time. Joss is Boss. :p

That night I watched Shindig. I wanted to see Mal duel, as I'm in fencing class now. :D
I was introduced to it by my parents, who rented Serenity, and then I loved it so we started getting Firefly from Blockbuster Online. I found the whole season for $20 at Target a little over a year ago, it was probably the best $20 ever spent. :)
Now I have 4 Firefly/Serenity shirts, I'm wearing one today, actually. I love it when I see another Browncoat. :)
I used to watch Angel when it was on TV, I'm a little too young to have watched Buffy when it was on, I'm exactly 10 years younger than Buffy. I watched the first 2 seasons of it on hulu.com but that's all they had, so I'm waiting for blockbuster online to have season 3, disk 1 available.

I watched the made for t.v. remake of the original movie "On the Beach" which was made in the late 50's. It's about the aftermath of a global nuclear war in which somebody "pushed THE button". I forgot about this thread! I FINALLY got a hold of a copy of Drop Dead Fred. It is the best movie in the world ever. And not just because Rik Mayall is wonderful in it.
I love that movie, too. I remember as a preteen or early teen it was on Showtime, and it came on about five or six times a day. We watched it a couple times a day one summer. :) hahahaha, it's the mega b**** with the death breath! hahahahahah

I LOVE Rik Mayall. He's like a god. It was pretty much the only thing he's done that I haven't seen, and I couldn't find it anywhere until I downloaded Vuse, a bit torrent program to download it. When he says "Hey Snotface, look at this!" and then holds the flashlight to his face and does that thing, I loved it. He does that face/weird laugh thing in pretty much every show he's ever done.
I really wish they didn't cut him out of Harry Potter, he filmed and was payed for the part of Peaves the poltergeist but they ended up cutting him out of the entire movie. :(
