I do some banking online, but end up paying the majority of
my bills by writing checks & making trips to the post office.I'm
starting to think maybe paying bills online might be a better way to go. Does anyone else use here use the pay online method?
Is it really safe? Any ideas, comments? Thanks.

I pay almost all of my bills online. Of course there are risks but I'm willing to take them. I have been doing it for about 5 years without incident.

I do pay a few of my bills online...I have never had a problem, just make sure that you are entering your info on a secure site. I do send checks a lot too, but sometimes it is a lot easier to pay online, especially if it's a bill you forgot to pay and it's late...I've done that once or twice LOL.

We pay a lot of our bills online. The credit cards, Directv, cell phone, car insurance. It's really easy, it saves money on stamps.
I believe its safe. They are all secure sites. We have never had any problems paying online. You should go for it.:)

Yes, I shop online, bank online, check my credit card online and pay bills online and I have never had a problem.

There are security features you can check for to make sure the page you are on is secure. The most obvious ones are - if you use Internet Explorer - the little lock in the right hand corner of the screen. It only shows up on secure pages. The other most obvious is the address of the page you're on. http:// is the normal website protocol. https:// is the secure form of http:// So if you are ever in doubt, look for the "s" after the http and/or the lock in the right hand corner.

Just for reference, when you use an https:// page, the data is encrypted before being sent so if someone were to intercept it, they would need to be able to decrpyt it before getting things like your SSN & account numbers.

SSL (Secure Socket Layers) is another security feature, but now we're getting in a little deeper than the normal internet user. Can you tell I just finished a class on Internet Security? ;)

We pay all our bills online through our bank. It's very convenient. :)

I pay my bills online. I find that it is a lot more convienent plus I don't have checks floating around that can potentially get forgotten about :o

Same here. I only write checks for the ones that I can't pay online. I also have some things taken directly out of my checking account like cable & car insurance.
Go for it!

I don't pay bills online. Why?? Because the bank takes the money out of my account immediately, but have up to 10 days to send the payment to the bill collector. It's not right! But that's the way online bill paying works.

I do shop online sometimes.

I shop online and use Paypal a lot, but I still write checks to pay my bills. I bank online though to transfer funds from one account to another.

The only bill that is paid online is the monthly server cost. It's pulled directly from my credit card.

I'm lucky to have a mail room at work so I drop my bills off there.

Nope I would love to do online banking, but I have never used a credit card online or done any online banking, I know they say it is all safe, but it cannot be 100 per cent, hackers today can almost do anything, I am just not a risk taker even though NZ has one of the best online banking services in the world, for me I will stick with the old fashioned methods.

My husband does all of his bill paying through his bank, online. He rarely writes a check, if ever. I don't use the bill pay that my bank offers, but I do pay most of my bills online if I can, including the electric bill. The others are on automatic draft. I rarely write checks either.

I do Banking Online. I love it.

Whatever I do is done instantly (well maybe a few mins, but u get the idea).

For Student Loans, I have to send a cheque (its the only way).

I can do soo much with my Banking Online. I have one of my CC's hooked up to it, I can transfer cash from all accounts for free, I can transfer cash for free to my CC or to my b/f account, or to my dad's account. I pay bills & everything.. Like I said, I LOVE IT

I do all mine online too, except for the bills like garbage that only comes every quarter, I mail that one. It takes it out of my account almost right away so I never forget what checks are floating around. Helps me to manage the money easier and it's so much more conveniant(sp). I've not had any problems yet.
