Have you spoken to her, and told her she's talking to herself and others find it annoying?

I guess I could be that person. I think what is important is that she NOT talk loud enough for everyone to hear. She could be asked to whisper rather than talk aloud. Give it a try. I sing all the time too, and I refuse to stop that. I just try to keep it to myself.....yes, that's the ticket....keep it to yourself......and not clutter other's airspace.
I have learned and so no one is too old to learn to "keep it in their own space"........
Hope this helps.
P. S. A gentle conversation always starts things out on good footing, so I suggest a gentle, private conversation, asking her in a very polite way.
P. S. S. The alternative is for you to get ear plugs.

I worked with a girl that ate with her mouth open, and, would make the most disgusting sounds. I almost threw up one day, and, finally asked to be moved. I thought maybe it was because she wore braces, but, it didn't change when she had them removed. It was so nasty, and, it just made my skin crawl. I had one guy that I worked with, that because I'd refused his advances, made my days at work nearly impossible to cope with. It took him about a year and a half to finally back off. He was just bitter, young, and, mean.

Well I have ranted about this before but the snarfing of 2 co-workers right near me is enough to make be gag!!!
Also, there is a co-worker that makes disparaging comments whenever anybody takes a day off...he takes days off all the time but thats okay...now mind you we all have to use our vacation and sick leave so it is our time...

I work with a lady who puts everything in her mouth. If she's holding a pen and needs both hands, she puts the pen in her mouth. If she's filing papers, she holds the papers in her mouth while she files. Everything in the office is covered with her germs. She is ALWAYS sick and passes her germs around. When she leaves the office, we "hose down" the office and clean every surface we can. I guess we could staple her lips together...

Oh boy my favorite subject! When working on a machine in an assembly line and this one girl needs to hit stop to catch up she doesn't ask if we are ready before she pushes start agian. It drives us all crazy because we aren't ready for our parts to startup because we are trying to fix the ones she messed up on.

I have a coworker that habitually cleans his ears out with his keys while he is talking to you. He even pauses and takes the keys out to examine for earwax. Then he'll resume digging. BARF!

Wow I think the ear one takes the cake in the grossest of ways. You think he'll pop and ear drum someday?! Wow I think I'd puke too.

One of my co-workers clips her nails every day. Snip, snip, snip, snip.....
Another whistles the same few notes over and over and over.....
He's the same one who sucks on hard candy--slurping loudly.
I'm sure they don't appreciate my muttered curses when something goes wrong. Or maybe they just consider the source.

I really don't have any annoying co-workers yet. I've only been at my job for 6 months and really like everyone I work with.
But, it's early yet. Given time, I'm SURE someone will start to get on my last nerve.

At last I can get this off my chest! We have a colleague who is just never here! She is either studying for exams, at college or off sick and when she is here she useless! Why is she still here? Because to boss is too soft/dim/daft to do anything......seriously undermining the whole dynamic of the office

That reminds me! I had completely forgotten the girl I used to work with who partied all night and fell asleep at her desk. She made so many mistakes when she was awake that we got to where we just let her sleep. (Yes, she was related to the boss).

lol!
Wish ours would do that - on the rare occasions she puts in an appearance she's annoyingly "efficient"........bustles around driving everyone up the wall!

I have a coworker that is really arrogant. She is the lab supervisor, and some of the people in the lab think she is so great (or at least act like they do). She says anyone over about 130 lbs. is fat (I am not exaggerating, she actually said 130), and she hates fat people. She also hates anyone who is in her opinion "stupid" - which means anyone who doesn't know as much as her or anyone who makes a mistake. She does not like mistakes, and in her opinion she does not make any. She makes comments constantly about people. I have been wanting to vent about her for so long!
One of my co-workers also talks to herself frequently. We all love her to death, though, so we just tease her about her one-sided conversations and ask her if she is hearing voices that we can't hear. LOL! She takes it very good-naturedly and it really isn't that bad I guess. ;)

Wow! I love this thread! My job is school, but there is one girl that I cannot stand! She chews with her mouth open, smacks her gum all the time, thinks she is better than everyone else, etc. She even tried to pet Jesse one day while I told her that she couldn't! Jesse SNARLED at her (she never bites, growls, or snarels at anyone else!) OHHHH!!! I dislike her with a great passion!

BARF all over again! Ewww! That is so gross!
Thank you Elizabethann for creating this thread, it is a good way for people to vent;)

My 2 bosses (which are my dad & brother) they bicker constantly about each other, of course not to their faces to me.
Sometimes I tell them to shut up, I don't want to hear it, go directly to the other & tell him what you told me. It rarely works.
Oh & they are so undecisive too.

My job title is "technical reviewer". We hired a second person for this postion about 3 months ago. My boss asked a co-worker and I to sit in on the 2nd interview, but didn't ask us our opinion before hiring her...we both would have said no way.
So now I have to share an office with her and train her. First, her favorite phrase is "been there, done that, got the T-shirt" Okay, I think I said that is grade school!
Second, she has a mullet!! Long stringy, looks like it used to be permed, in the back, bad dye job, very 80's
Third, she does not listen at all! I will give her background on a test, tell her what I know the status to be, and ask her to follow up with the lab to see if there is any new information. She will spend 15 minutes on the computer, and repeat back to me what I just told her!!
She also says she will do things, then sets them aside, so I end up doing them anyway. She has told, our manager "No" when he asks her to do something. PArt of her trianing I have told her she needs to spend time in the lab. Our supervisor has told her she needs to spend time in the lab. Our manager has told her she needs to spend time in the lab. Has she spent any time int he lab? Of course not!! She spends all her time on her computer, trying to create these databases that will fix things in the lab. HOW DOES SHE KNOW WHAT NEEDS FIXED, WHEN SHE WON"T GO IN THE LAB???
Okay....deep breath. Sorry for my rant!!

Maybe she's incompetent in the lab! About 6 years and three jobs ago I worked with this one PhD who almost had the building evacuated when she was doing a digestion outside a hood! The room was full of nasty brown gas, which is very corrosive. Fortunately the metals lab was sealed.

I once had a coworker who would tell people different things about work related issues to get arguments going between different staff members and generally cause trouble. In the end, we all ended up ignoring her and would double check her stories to make sure. She eventually left the company.

AGhhhhhhhh...it would make me sick!

I worked in a rather large office that had a small break room
off the large cubicle filled room. It had the usual, microwave,
fridge, vending machines, table & chairs, etc. There was one guy
who everyday at 11 am would microwave his popcorn till it was
burned. He loved the taste of burnt popcorn.:( The smell hung
iin the air & filled the whole room for hours afterward. Yuck.:(

Great thread!
I have a co-worker who is a bible-thumping lunatic. When I first started the job, he used to preach excerpts from the bible to me, always turn on gospel music, and insist I agree with his viewpoint. After all he was right and I was wrong.
He spent hours trying to shove his religious views down my throat, and MAKE me see things his way. He'd go on and on about how the planet is really only 15,000 years old, dinosaurs never existed, and evolution is a false theory and the work of the devil.
When I wouldn't listen to him, he accused me of being a satanist, and told me I was destined for "a very warm place", and that he KNEW he was right and I would be sorry.
I tried hard to get him to back off but he wouldn't, so I went above his head. They talked to him, and after that he stopped the bible thumping. But he went on to start preaching to me (and everyone else) that there is no such thing as cancer. It's always a fungal infection. He touted this special diet that he found out about from some bible channel he watches, and has been nagging the he** out of everyone in the workplace to go on ever since.
He still nags me about it, but the last time he said "you need to go on this diet", I looked at him, and flat out said "NO." I gave him no other explanation. Just "NO."
He made fun of me for a bit but then he backed off. Among other nuances, I barely tolerate him. He is probably one of the rudest people I've ever come across. He will come over to your desk when you're busy with something, and sit behind you and stare at you until you're done. It's SOOOO annoying. And he knows he's rude, but he doesn't care. His attitude is that if he needs something done, he doesn't care if you're doing something already. It can't be more important than his needs, after all.

This coworker is more than likely violating a corporate policy. It's certainly considered very bad form to do what he is doing.

You've reminded me on a lady I used to work with who was very similar. I related an off-color story to her and she actually told me: "You are going to HE!! wearing gasoline underwear." :p  :p
I managed not to laugh in her face, but to this day, my family uses that phrase when we want to tease each other.

Here's annoying for you (an e-mail message I received today):
Call Barbara, she said it was real important.
Barbara is my sister. The important thing - her SO's brother died and they are leaving town. Barb has inoperable lung cancer/emphysema/heart problems and knew if I couldn't reach her when I call to check, I'd be frantic.
When I asked the co-worker why the e-mail she said:
I sent it so I wouldn't forget.
Forget - I was less than 20 feet away from her when she took the call. True I was meeting with someone, but surely she could remember for 5 minutes when someone says it's "important"!?!
When her mother called last Friday and said it was important, I went and got her in the bathroom.
Right now, I am so mad I could scream.

I am so ticked off that i could spit.
I fnally found out that my co-worker is nothing but a whiny a-hole.
She complains about the temps that come in to help..She says that she will not correct any mistakes that they make while helping us..
This woman is a float, she fills in where ever they need her.
When she does work with me she says that she has never seen a job so screwed up, there's no light at the end of tunnel and she
is constantly defending the boss, who dioesn't know her arse from a hole in the ground.
more complaints from her are the pay and her job description, by rights she shouldn't have to do that job and she should get paid if she does.
i got really pissed off at her and told her, for the millionth time that she should go to the Union and get the extra money or get taken oiff the job.....she changes the subject and gets louder during the conversation
It finally dawned on me why she is does this....
If she complains about the pay they will tell her to get stuffed,,,,
If there is no one out on leave or vacation they don't need her, her hours will get cut back....
Instead of being thankful that they bring her in to help me and giving her the extra hours, she just complains about the work.
When I figured out her game, I told her that I was ready to quit..
she got really pissed off and didn't have much to say....
part of my irritation with her is her complaining - the second part is her inability to step up to the plate and make her feelings known to the bosses...
it's one thing to complain about the work...but to complain and not do anything about it really make me crazy....
i friggin hate people that can't crap or get off the pot.....

Luckily, None of my co-workers are TOO annoying. I would with some fantastic people, each one of them are animal lovers and a lot are like family to me. We're constantly talking about our dogs with eachother and brining in pictures.
There is this one guy who can be a complete a-hole sometimes. He has his very good days, then a majority of the time he whines about having to do something. -GASP!!!- It's WORK, I couldn't imagine doing something!
