Mom is called Stella-guida (pronounced: gweeda)
that means Guiding Star and baby is called Stellina. That means Little Star.
Stellina is a bizarre little girl. She spent 60% of the first day here in the "Halloween" position. She isn't all that scared, she is just skiddish. After the first day, she has calmed down considerably.
Stella-guida is a poly. Six toes on each front foot.
Both sweet as pie!

Hi rosethecopycat,
I just love the poly's! I got my first one quite a few years ago when a stray had kittens in my barn. I was watching one of the kittens walking along a narrow beam, and noticed her paws were wider than the beam itself! She had 7 on one front paw, 8 on the other, because she had 2 claws coming out from one of the toes, so I counted it as two, and 7 on both back paws. She was an orange and gray calico named Stella and she lived until old age took her. They have a personality that is like no other!

Wow! Never heard of 8!
Were her paws healthy? I have no experience with polys.
It doesn't hurt them does it?

Yes all her paws and all the other poly's paws are very healthy. The only problem Stella had was when the 8th claw on her front paw would get caught in the carpet as she walked. You could always tell it was her coming because you would hear a little "chi- click" as the claw caught. But it never bothered her.
Poly's can be so much fun to watch when they are playing with something because they actually use their extra toes like we use are thumbs and they pick things up with it.
I have noticed in mine(and it could just be in their blood line) that the females are alot moodier than the male! The females can be very demanding and whine alot...LOL, as we all can at times, but the males are very easy going and comfortable to be around.
Dont worry about their paws, unless they act like somethings bothering them. The claws on the extra toes also tend to peel a little, but that's from not being able to "sharpen" or condition them like the other's. they are to far off to the side and would probably have to cup their paw in the process of that. Thank goodness though, the furniture would be double damaged,LOL!
If you ever have any questions on poly's please dont hesitate to ask me!
Have fun with them! Enjoy
Jenn

I saw her use it like a opposing thumb, once. I thought it was a fluke or I was displaying my tendency for anthropomorphism.
;) :p

LOL! The first time I saw mine picking things up, I couldnt believe it either! I would yell to my husband to come and watch and when he did, everyone would just sit there:confused:, and as soon as he left...they all contiued picking things up! He thought I was crazy because...I tend to put animals up to our level of intellegence of thinking, and feel that they understand everything as we do....so when I would say they have figured out how to use their paws as hands...everyone would laugh, until they saw it themselves;) It has always amazed me...but I'll still always think they know exactly what their doing!

Extra toes are genetically dominant! I think this is a possible evolution of opposible thumbs. Every polydactyl I've fostered has been able to do some manipulation of objects with the "thumb". I think poly's are also very intelligent....hmm. What will cats do when they don't need us to open the food bag? Uh, oh...:p ;)

My Snowy, although not a poly (he's a neanderthal)
opens the food bags anyway. (with his mouth)
 :p

Stella-guida has gone home!
Now, her kitten, Stellina, needs some help. She is not the friendliest of kittens.
She has made a new friend in my other foster kitten, Caramella. They sleep together and wrestle. Stellina couldn't care less that I am here.
Caramella is sweet as they get, but how to help Stellina? How not run from my hand and learn how to take affection. She watches Caramella get affection, so there is a good example.

That moma cat is awesome its the closest thing that I have found to look anything like my little Chloe. Pictured below did you know what kind of breed she was. Chloes sister my parent have looks just like her baby. That is really neat. Let me know what you think!!

Your baby is a Snowshoe Siamese (with oreo toes):p
The kitten Stellina and Caramella, the last kitten from the previous batch, are going to their forever home together. They bonded like sisters. Caramella didn't even sleep with her siblings like she does with Stellina.
So, after conferring with other fosters, we will let two females go together.
Their personalities are quite different, and that is good. It will help them deal with any future rivalries that may arise. The adopter knows that even though they are very close now, they may not stay that way.
I will miss Caramella, who spent half her kittenhood with me, in foster care.
And Stellina, the strange kitten who doesn't purr.
Moving on, I have an incoming 5 week old male seal.
Pictures, next week.
:D

Glad to hear about Caramella and Stellina- looks as if Caramella helped Stellina in socializing too:)

Rose, you seem to know alot about Siamese, Snowshoes, etc.... what would you say my Iris is? I think she is a Ragdoll ... since she has long hair and fluffy tail. What is your idea?

Here is a picture of Chloes bigger sister they both had the same dad. Only KiKi's mother was a lynx point. And Chloes mother was a seal point. My parents and little brother have her sister. I think Kiki is about 2 weeks older than Chloe! Isn't she gorgous she looks like a little snow leppard.

I didn't see the father of the two girls. Chloe and Kiki have the same dad. The lady that had them both said he was a ragdoll. But both girls you can see that they have siamese in them but no distinct ragdoll features. Also Kiki is really shy doesn't really like new people very much. I had her warm up to me about the time I was leaving my parents house so it took all day. They both have sky blue eyes. And really soft fur. They had a little brother named Butter because he was soft like Butter. But again no medium length hair mostly like siamese features.
I will post more pictures of the girls when they are awake their sleeping poses don't do them justice. They both have amazing markings.
I will attach another picture of Chloe when she is awake. Attacking me. She is quite small in these she has grown alot since these were taken. You can still see her strips in her fur. Kiki has the same bu hers are more grey.
