What do you need to know? Are you prepared to brush him or her every day or so? Their fluffy coat can matt if not regularly brushed ... What kind of time and energy would you be able to devote to a dog? You can find out the breed information esily on Google, do you have any pets now? What makes you want a Peke? Are you okay with barking, or do you want a quiet dog?

There's no way to tell if a pup will grow up to be "snuggly" or quiet. Some dogs just end up more independant than others. Your best bet would be looking at adults in rescues and shelters. That way, you can be sure that you're getting the type of dog you and your family want.

Yes your very right , but I would really like a dog that I can raise from a puppy and have a strong bond with it. And i'm willing to except it's own personality !!!!

I thought you decided on a Doxie? I'm confused!!!!

I would suggest a rescue or research reputable breeders. Good luck!

You can have just as strong a bond - sometimes even stronger - with a rescue dog - even if they are full grown - as you can with a pup you raise yourself. Just ask Aly - her rescue Lolly is incredibly well bonded to Aly! Or Anna_66 - you'd never meet a dog who loves her more than Huney - whenever Anna leaves her area (when we're at the dog park, for example), Huney is GLUED to the fence pointing constantly in Anna's direction!

Any ANY dog can be an "inside dog" - except for *some* Huskies and Malamutes, as Glacier's gang will attest to!

Before you decide, you can try to look at this, and read about every single one. You click on the name, and the story will appear. You can do it for all months.

Have fun reading their stories! :)

Savannah, what's going on? I did a quick search and all your posts have been about not knowing what kind of dog breed to get. Then, you turn back around and said you decided on a Miniature Dachsund. Now, you say you've decided on a Pekingese. Then, you make a post in Dog Training asking for advice on a Pekingese. I'm very confused.

As for a Pekingese, NO, they're not cuddly. If you want a cuddly, small breed dog, go to petfinder.org. Here are all the small breed dogs in TN up for adoption:

Yeah, I don't think a Peke would be to cuddly either, if you want to know a lot about a certain breed like it's origin, average height and weight and all sorts of stuff, www.dogbreedinfo.com is also pretty good.

Maybe a Pug or a Pomeranian or, well, I love Beagles and Miniature Dachshunds, too. Just something to maybe think about. I'm not sure exactly what would be right for you.

I would suggest a bichon frise, a mini doxie, a pug, or a mixed breed!
