And I wonder to this day how Muggin's is? About 7? years ago I got a call about a 'feral' cat that had his eye popped out of his head, and was in a very busy area, traffic wise. It took a few trips out there, but I did get the poor guy. Skin & bones tuxie with his eye bouncing off his cheekbone, and hanging from the optic nerve. His eyeball was all dried out, and covered with dirt, and not salvagable. He went to the vets the next day, and was tested, neutered, vaccinated, and his eye enucleated, and sewn shut. He was NOT a happy cat for a few weeks, but once he got more comfortable, he turned into the most affectionate lovehog! He would grab people who walked by his kitty condo perches, and insist on attention! :) He got adopted out, and I have one crummy picture of him, but he was one of those cats that I'll always wonder..is he happy? Still alive? Healthy? Memories *sigh* I'd love to see him again, or at least know he's adored as he should have been from day #1! ;)

If I were you I'd wonder about all the rescues and would probably try to keep tabs on them all. Which is just one more reason I'd never be able to do what you do, Jan. I'd be bogged down in kitties that I just couldn't bring myself to part with, and then on top of all that I'd be bogged down in paper trails of all the ones I was able to part with. ;)

I would like to think that he is still alive, well and the story has had a happy ending after his poor beginning. Do you keep a log of some sort to remember all the names and events that went along with each rescue? You probably don't have the time and just have a great memory, but I am curious.

I have years worth of calendars that I write all my trappings on. Someday I'm going to drag them all out, and tally up how many rescues I've done over the years. ;) Muggins for some reason entered my thoughts last night. :) He turned out to be such a character...and he would have been a keeper (maybe) if he wasn't an X-tom cat coming into a multicat household. No could do*sigh* I hope he's spoiled rotton and well loved. ;)

As long as he is an ex-Tom why not? Not mean, just curious - I know nothing about cats and am learning from the two I got. I'd like to know for future reference. I see cats everywhere and one day can see me trying to help more. Thank you.

I bet he is well loved and very thankful!! :)

I got one of my cats from the animal control near me and the volunteer there was desparate to get her a home before she was killed. there were a lot of cats that came and were killed there but this one had touched the volunteers heart and she couldnt' take her so she was very greatful for me for adopting her as her time for death was very near - next up adn there had been no interest in her at all. I did go back and email her some pictures about 5 months after and just emailed her again to see if she might want more??? :) :) Also there is a cat a t the shelter website up for death that is already neutered that for $8 can be saved. So I asked her to tell me if he doesn't find a forever home and they are going to kill him. Debbie

I have many cats here already, and Muggins having been a street scrapping tom cat for several years, may have started off serious pee-wars here. I have enough bad kitties here *sigh* And with new babies and moms coming in non-stop as well. I sure wish more PTers lived near by to help out with the overflow.

Hey, Jan! Your story about Muggins really grabbed the ol' heartstrings. Poor little guy went through more than any kitty should. I know, without a doubt, that you wouldn't give him to just anyone. All we can do is hope and pray that he's happy, comfortable, and king of a loving and caring furever home. My prayers for Muggins! Let us know if you hear anything about him?
