Looking at your COTD photo, no one would ever guess that you are a sea-faring feline, but it sounds like the water is your second home!

You arrived at exactly the right time in your purrents' lives and what a stroke of luck that you enjoy traveling!

I'm a little surprised that you aren't up on the deck, supervising your crew instead of lounging in the guest quarters, but I guess you're resting up from your arduous time patrolling for gulls.

Sweet Zella, I wish you many years of happiness and health; you are a wonderful addition to your family's home.

Congratulations to a fabulous gal!!!

Zella, cats and boats- don't they belong together?

I would love to cruise the San Juan's with you- I cannot imagine a better area.

Do you have your own life jacket for rough weather? It must be fun to keep these seagulls at bay:)

Cute Zella, I wish you the best of sea faring life ever. And I am sure you don't just dart at the door for food but for love of your humans:)

You are a very lovely cat, beautiful eyes and lovely colouring and marking. You appear to be very relaxed there, enjoying the ride on the boat. So, sailor Zella, enjoy your special day today and may there be lots of treats and cuddles in store for you!:)

Dearest Zella, your story sounds like my family's. Our Genevieve died of cancer five years ago April, absolutely devastating us, and my husband and I thought we'd wait until autumn before adopting another cat to love. Hah! Just one month later, we found Archie at the Humane Society, Bill one month after that, Dinah three weeks later, then came Mau, completing our very happy family. When you have loved a cat as much as your mom and dad (and my husband and I) did, life isn't complete without one (or two or four), ever again! I am so glad that your dad brought you home to your mom, and wish you many, many years of health and happiness together!

Wow Zella, what a stunning lady you are! You look so much like a little queen bobcat resting on your luxurient throne :D. I can just imagine you on those boat trips, keeping those pesky seagulls in line! I really loved your human's description of you in this sentence:
In this world of high stress and impossible deadlines she is an oasis of calmness. What a beautiful sentiment! I bet it's genuine happiness, and not just hunger ;), that causes you to run greet your people when they come home. Zella, I hope you have an especially marvelous day today as you shine in the spotlight as today's top cat! Congratulations on being our majestic and beautiful Cat of the Day!

Good thing this pretty girl can keep her balance on deck with that nubbin tail. Seems her humans were wise not to rush out for another kitty and try to find a copy after their loss. They kept their hearts open for the right one, whatever the breed might be. How fortunate.

Zella had better be careful about chasing away those seagulls. She just might take a mighty leap and then come down to find there is no boat beneath her! (a fishing cat of my acquaintance did this very thing - and wound up taking a dive off the boat into Prince William Sound).

Of course, maybe that's how Zella catches her rays. Perhaps she leaps for a gull, then dives into the water, swims to the bottom, and then snatches the poor, unsuspecting ray from the depths and drags it up to the boat.

I suspect these are small rays that she catches. I think she would have a hard time with mantas.

It is good that she is there, bringing her warmths to my neighbors down in B.C.

You are a very beautiful Canadian cat, Miss Zella -- tres belle! CATgratulations on being our Cat of the Day.

Mew, we are having such nice weather in Montreal: sunny with temperatures at 86F [30C]...Summer has arrived! Hope you are having lovely weather in Victoria.

You are such a wonderful cat -- we love your bio telling how clever you are doing the seagull patrol. Your boat sounds oh! soooooo lovely. Enjoy your boating excursions with your purr~ents. Live long and healthy, happy, always cherished and may Kato, your guardian angel watch over you for many, many years.

Purrs from moi, Sasha the Queen Calico and from my purr~ents, Paw-Paw & Katma.

Aye aye, Zella! Ship's Cat is a very important position and you're taking it as seriously as you should, keeping those gulls off your boat. If you catch one, will you have it keelhauled?
