Hi everyone! Got a question, Groucho is a very sweet and friendly kitty who will sit with me, snuggle and talk but will go off to one of his private spots after a short while. But today he's completely different. As the result of a fall yesterday I have a chip fracture in my ankle. It's splinted and taped up but getting around isn't very easy to do. Well, since then Groucho has not left my side. He goes where ever I try to go but doesn't run ahead of me as he usually does. From time to time he'll look at the taped up splint, touch it gently with his paw and meow.He has always been rather affectionate but today it has been non-stop. He's giving a lot of kitty kisses and purrs when he comes up to sit with me. I love the attention he's giving but I don't understand why he's suddenly so affectionate. Any thoughts?

He is a smart and sensitive little guy. He knows meowmie is hurt and not feeling quite right so he is sticking close by to make sure you are ok and to give you comfort. Lilith is very similar in behavior. She loves to get her cuddles and scritchies but then goes off to her nap spot for awhile. But when I am ill she is like glue to me. She will not move away unless I do or unless you has to use the litter. But then she is right back beside me. He is just being his loving, supportive, sensitive, sweet, protective self. He wants to be there for you when you need him like you are there for him when he needs you. :D

My little Mina was the same way with me after my car accident.
Groucho knows mommy is hurt and he is just reassuring you that he will be there with you until you're better. Its like a sixthsense thing with pets. They don't want to get too far away from their humans when they know they are well.

It is true, when you are sick or hurt they have some kind of sense and try in their own way to "heal". I've had it happen many times, isn't it just terrific to have such wonderful nurses!!
