I swear, Cecelia is the wonder fish!! Shesat in a tupperware bowl the entire day and lived to tell the tale!

Here are a few pictures of her new decorations...

(ignore the sad state of the books in the bookcase...that was done real quick to support the tank...still unpacking and organizing. ;)

She's an African Cichlid :)

She's the only one in there because she's way too agressive and torments everything I put in there!

Congratulations on your move Kelly. I will have to read some old threads to catch up on what's been happening in your life lately. I know you had been sick but hope that is all behind you now! ;)

My hubby is an African Cichlid FREAK! He started out with fish about 30 years ago and once he got his first African Cichlid he was hooked. He how has two tanks (a 75 gallon and a 60 gallon) and they are all African Cichlids. They can be nasty little things and there have been times when he has had to watch carefully and see how they will all get along and even at times, over the years, actually return some to the store for being overly aggressive with the others. Africans love cave environments so he has a huge amount of rocks in the tanks, forming caves. They also provide good hiding places for a new fish to go while he faces the "welcoming committee." They also like alkaline water. He no longer puts plants in the tank because these guys are diggers and will uproot them. If you have any cichlid questions please let us know. I will definitely show this thread to hubby. :)

Is that the tank that self-cleans? It sure is one awesome tank. What gallon is it?

Thanks, guys! :)

No, that's not the tank that "self cleans". I learned the tank at work doesn't really self clean...the filter works really well and Rupert seems to be a very clean fishy. ;)

This tank is a 15 gallon Eclipse. I LOVE it!! I got it about a year and a half ago.

Pam,
Yes, I used to have a cave thingy in there with CeCelia...but it got a bit gross...I'm looking for something that'll go with the new decor that she can hide in. So far, she seems to love playing in the current...she's such an active fishy!

If I have any problems, I'll PM you. Thank you!!

Hugs,
Kelly :)

Nice tank, I love the flowers. I need to find some of those to add a little color to things, sense my tanks are more natural looking, color would be nice.

I was going to say the Pam said, Cichlid need hiding places. We have 100's of Cichlid, a few just like your guy. They all get along because of the hiding spaces, Cichlid are territorial so if you give each one there own spot to guard, more of less, they get along so much better. So if you ever do want another, try building hiding spots. With your guy right now, he's so open that to him the whole environment is his to guard.

Here's one of our tanks, lots and lots of hiding places, so everyone is happy. The other tank we used rocks we got out of the river, piled them up and up so everyone has a place to call their own. A cheap was of doing a tank. :D Just idea if you ever what to get more.
