Besides my pets, I have another hobby:

No, I'm not robbing a tree. :D
Actually, target shooting is my dad's hobby, but he got me interested in it several years ago. We go shoot whenever we can, and have alot of fun. In fact we just went today and took mom. We had a blast. Literally. The gun in my picture is my first pistol. It's a 22. I just got it a couple of months ago.
Safety comes first. One rule is to keep your finger off the trigger until your ready to shoot. OR as my dad just told me today: Keep your booger hook off the bang switch. LOL! No, we don't hunt. My dad has friends that do, but we don't think it's much fun.
I know some people don't like guns, but it really is a very safe and FUN hobby! Does anyone else enjoy this?

real cool!
My dad taught us all to shoot and it's a fun hobby.
Be safe and remember what you dad says about the 'booger hook'.
Dad's know all that good stuff.

I have gone target shooting many times, though not recently. There are many guns of various vintages in my parents' house, there have been my whole life. None of us ever injured ourselves or others with them, even though the 22 rifle by the front door could be intimidating to people who didn't know us. I was always taught to respect guns, and to never even joke around with a real gun. Never assume a gun isn't loaded. Always be careful, and always wear hearing protectors.

Thanks for sharing the picture...
You have to learn not to smile when you say, "Make my day..."

A long time ago I learned to shoot at a range near college. I have no problem with target shooting as a sport; just be smart about it! (hearing protection, general gun safety, etc.) Ruger mini-14s are LOUD!:D
lol not really a hobby but my dad works at the RCMP and they have a "turkey shoot" every year around thanksgiving, basicly you shoot targets that are taped to cardboard cutouts shaped like turkeys, and if you win, you win a turkey or a ham, your choice. the first time I ever went, I won the turkey lol

Thats great that you have the experience. I am not a fan of guns, but mostly because people get them and don't know how to operate them. Its so sad to hear of all those accidental gun firings and killings because some idiot didn't respect the power it holds. If ever I got a gun, you'd better believe I'd be learning how to use it and make sure my shots went where I intended them to go.

Hubby has several guns & we go shooting a lot . . . just target shooting though. He likes it more than I do . . . guess it's a guy thing . . . but I do LOVE that empowerment feeling that it gives you! ;)

Andy owns a few guns as does my father. I have a rifle, but I think it's still in my dad's name.
My parents hunt, while Andy has always gone target shooting. I've done both. :)

Please spare us the "Men are From Mars" typecasting...;)
Of course, In Full Metal Jacket, the scene with
"This is my rifle, This is my gun, This one's for fighting....."
does bear that out.!!!
   :p
