gemini9961, why don't you get them done? Niño was done before we even took him out of the shelter!

i agree. if they get lost and someone finds them and takes them to a shelter or vet they'll be ablr to ring you up straight away.

Kaedyn has a microchip. Kai has a tattoo.

Kaedyn had it done by his previous owners. It kind of worries me that the shelter only realized he had a microchip after I brought him back (after being adopted) to be microchipped. They didn't even check him when he came in to the shelter.

We didn't originally get them chipped when they went in for spaying because we didn't think it was necessary. Needless to say I have learned a lot more about dogs since then. I might ask my vet the next visit about the cost since I know I would be grateful for it if either of them ever got lost or picked up. Basically we didn't have them chipped out of our own ignorance. :(

I think it should be illigal for animals not to be chipped, It was going to be here, but some ITIOTIC retard got into a fight with her husband about if it was true or not and it was so she lobbied to have the bill dropped and she won!

Yep, Kadesh (pictured below) is a guide dog drop out and when I got her back she was microchiped. I just had to get the info changed. It is a very good idea

Riley came from the shelter chipped. I think it is an excellent idea. I had one of my former dogs, god I miss her, go adventuring for a few days and I would have been a little less stressed had she been microchipped. I got lucky and someone saw one of the hundres of fliers that I posted.

MAXIMUS has identifying marks, that we had to list for his lics. in california, but here a dog lics. is not required.....can a chip be put in without sedation???

Yep! All 3 of ours are chipped. We didn't even know this technology existed and our vet never mentioned it. We had Kuhio for 17 years and she was put to sleep at the shelter before we could rescue her. :( :( :(

It's a long story, but basically, she got outside while my husband and I were out of town. Our housesitter didn't even bother looking for her figuring she would come back soon. Turns out Kuhio had wandered down the street (3 or 4 houses) and the people there called Animal Control. She was only kept THREE days and was put to sleep.

Please, please, please chip your pets. See a link to avid chip info in my signature below.

Now in Tucson every animal that comes out of a shelter is chipped. When I adopted my kitties they didn't do that yet, so neither were chipped when I adopted them. Corkscrew was chipped recently, I will be getting Tibby chipped when she goes in for her yearly next month.
