Some of you have probably read Uabassoon's post about my kitty Tuna who was very naughty and needed intestinal surgery to remove a piece of plastic he consumed.

Anyway, Tuna came home from the vet's yesterday to begin his recovery from his expensive kitty surgery. He seemed happy and affectionate to be home. My other cat Pocky--who's really well bonded with him--doesn't recognize him and has been hissing at him. I'm not surprised, even I can smell the medication on him. It's just sad because she had spent the last few days searching all over the bedroom for him and meowing for him. Silly kitty.

Tuna can only pureed wet food, and the vet recommended mixing in some canned tuna (in oil) to make it more palatable. Have done so, but so far he's refused to eat. The vet also said that his pain medication tends to supress the appetite as a side effect and to try not giving him any if he seems content. I've haven't given him any today and he seems alright, just sleeps most of the day, but still won't eat. I'm hoping he'll be eating by tomorrow... :(

Of somewhat greater concern is that he's started sneezing today. I didn't really notice until this afternoon after the vet closed so I didn't get a chance to call. I wonder if it's due to his body being under so much stress. The vet I've been seeing isn't in tomorrow, and the vet on duty is one I can't stand and do not trust, so as long as matters don't worsen, I think I'll wait until our checkup appointment Tuesday morning. He's still drinking water and staying hydrated at least.

Sigh, I just don't want anything more to be wrong with him. My new dog has kennel cough, and between the two of the them and finals, this is almost more than I can take!

Anyway, here's a picture of what was inside of him with a penny for reference: (geez, seems so small to cause so much damage.)

With his shaved arm (from his IV) and looking kind of sickly (though mostly because he's unphotogenic).

Welcome home Tuna. Now you must start to eat something to get fully better. (and make sure it is CAT food and not something else) :D

Little scritchies to you.

Oh Tuna, it's so good to see you, although your meowmy is right that you are looking rather sickly, but event he most beautiful of kitties wouldn't look that good after all you've been through!

Alexa, I would say as long as his sneezing doesn't get any worse, it's ok to wait until his appointment tomorrow. Unfortunately, one of the risks of keeping him at the vet's is that he might pick something up from the other cats there, and it might be that he caught a cold - poor baby!

He does look kind of punky, but it sounds like he's recovering as well as can be expected so far. I always hate it when they have to shave them like that because they're usually feeling back to normal long before the hair is fully grown in again, and it's a constant reminder of what happend.

Welcome to PT, Alexa. Hope you stick around so we can have many many more pictures of Tuna - and Pocky too of course! :)

Poor Tuna! He looks so pathetic with his little shaved leg! I hope he feels better soon!

Welcome to Pet Talk! :) It would be nice to see more pictures of Tuna and Pocky. We don't see enough of them.

Welcome home Tuna!:) I sure hope his sneezing doesn't amount to anything serious. He sure does remind me of my RB Pepper. Please eat your cat food Tuna so you can recover quickly and get back to your normal self. :)
