I have given Star two baths today because she has been playing in her litter box. This has been a problem for more than a month now. I do not know why she is so facinated with this litter. Is the clumping kind. Anyway she gets it all over her and the poop gets all over her too. I can't get on to her, because she just runs and then runs straight back to it, ducks like its a game to her. Its funny at the same time but frustrating because I do not want her to do it. I can't spray her because I do encourage her not to use the litter box because she is very good at using it. What should I do. She never played with the litter when I used the crystals only that is way over my budget. What can I do to discourage this behaviour? She has many cat toys, and loves them all. She seems to do this more when I sleep at night.

How old is she again? Young kittens should never have clumping litter until they get over this stage. The cheap stuff that doesn't clump is what you need -- its CHEAP, like $2 for a HUGE bag. You use it, scoop the poop everyday and just dump it after a few days, fill the box with fresh.
Edit: just saw your other post where you said she's about 3 months. Some people say thats still too young for clumping litter. It depends on the cats, and how much of a mess they make. Try the cheap clay stuff for a bit and see if that makes a difference.

I would try,the Clay,or the Yesterdays News,until she geta bit older.And see,if she still runs,and plays,in the Litter Box!

She still plays in her litterbox but not as often. It is more when I change the litter to new litter. It's facinating to her when I am cleaning out her box. After a day she doesn't do it anymore. Isn't it funny how our cats assume that every new thing we bring in the house is for them.

Yes, cats are extremely fascinating. And as a baby, she is just learning about the world around her. it will become less interesting with time. (she will find better trouble to get into...LOL)

Litter!!! I LOVE IT!!! The best part is when it's nice and fresh (mamma chances it every second day)... and I'll just run in there to do my business! Ah... Heaven! I'm nearly a year old, and I'll still sit there for nearly 10 minutes kicking everything around after I've been doing poopies (but I don't roll in it!)... and then I clean my paws, by scratching them on the edge of the litterbox...
Even though I'm an inside/outside kitty, I still only use my litterbox (to mammas frustration... like she'd do her business in the garden? I think not! Ergo, I won't either!)

King Spartacus you are too funny! You must drive your mamma nuts:p
Annie - I agree with some of the others - it might help to try the cheap clay for awhile. If you are really diligent about scooping, you can keep it almost as clean as scoopable. Also, the bigger pieces will not stick to her as much. Then, in a month or so- back to the clumping.
Silly kitties!! Cat litter can be such fun!:D
