I looked at this camera.. while I was at Target.. and I really like it, and I was wondering if it's definitely worth buying. :) I want to get one, so I can have a digital camera before I move out for Kent State University in August. :D So I can have photos of my friends/my dorm, so I could share with my family & friends back home..

Kodak EasyShare 4MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Lens - CX7430

It's $208.88, with the memory card that'd come with it, which is the Lexar Secure Digital 128MB Memory Card. (is that good? And do you know how many photos it would HOLD?)

• 4 megapixel resolution
• 3x aspheric all-glass optical zoom lens plus 4x advanced digital zoom for 12x total
• Bright 1.6" indoor/outdoor display
• Compatible with Kodak EasyShare system
• Video mode with audio

What do you think? Thank you! :)

What kind of batteries does the camera require? :) Thanks!

They use Digital batteries.

you can recharge them a thousand times or something like that before they start to really fade out.

I wouldn't buy it for myself, but if you're just wanting to take pictures of your friends, dorm, and such.. it's fine.

128mb should hold quite a bit depending on the setting you take the picture.

Kay, what kind of camera do you have again.. how much did it cost you. You and Amy have the same digital, right? I like that camera..

Nope.. I believe she has a Kodak.

I have a Canon PowerShot A80. I believe it cost me around $300, but that was when it first came out. There are older models you may be able to find that are in the same series of mine (A60 was my old one)

I love Canons and don't plan on getting anything different than a Canon for a while. They're very user friendly and what I like most of all, with Windows XP all you have to have is a USB cord to upload them.

My friend has that camera... It's pretty good, but I don't think it has a macro mode... I may be wrong. As Kay said, it's probably good for taking pics of friends, dorm, etc., just not closeups of exotic flowers. ;)

I would go with a Canon. I love my camera but the battery life sucks! It's a little flat, square one. Canon takes AAs. I hope to be getting one sometime soon.

I agree! :) My Dad has a Canon that I LOVE and am getting my own for my birthday!

CountryWolf07- I dont really know much about the camera, but the memory card should hold about 106 pictures. :)

How freaky I should see this post! I just sent a mass email around to the staff where I work asking them about their digital cameras and if they could recommend a cheap and easy to use one for me. One of my co-workers mentioned the Kodak EasyShare camera! She said her husband bought one for his business. They liked it so much that they bought another one for personal use! She said it's very easy to use and that you can attach different lenses to it. She has a 256 memory card and she can get about 200 pictures out of it. She paid about $200 for theirs. She also said for another $200 you can buy the printer dock and print out quality 4x6 pictures.

Thanks for showing the picture of the camera, because now I can see what it was she was talking about.

Several other co-workers mentioned they liked their Olympus D-380 (I saw it and it looks like a very simple camera) and the Cannon Powershot s410.

I use to have a kodak, and honestly I wouldn't buy another one. I would look at Canons. I don't think I'd ever want anything other then that.

128mb card is pretty good. I have 2 500mb and a 250 for my 6.1 mp cam. The 500 one holds about 100 and osme pics on best quality

I am thinking about buying it sometime this week or next week.

My daughter bought the easy share, no zoom last october with some birthday money. We liked it so much I got it for my other daughter for her birthday...its really easy to use and takes pretty good pictures, I had got my daughter a different camera for her birthday and she took it back and got the easy share...she said the other camera washed everyone out to much, I can't remember what that was.

Personally, I'd go for the second one - with the higher optical zoom.

I have a 5 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 5700 pro myself, and I LOVE it. It's not really easy to use though - you have to know something about cameras. Too many knobs and buttons.

It really comes down to how much you wish to spend and what you intend to take pics of.

I have looked at this particular model myself and as it is within my budget would buy it.

If you are wanting pics with a great deal of detail then you need to spend more.

The pics I post are from my fathers camera which cost around $800 NZ dollars, for me it is too good a camera, it shows every single detail, which is fine if you are taking pics of your jewellery for insurance purposes, but honestly I have yet to see a flattering pic of myself on it, lol, it shows up every blemish you own and I sure own some.

One pic I posted of my mother's cat even showed a hair off her blanket that was on her nose, so that is detail.

Choose wisely and enjoy your new camera.

Rachel, I bought the cx7430 last night and so far I really like it:) I'm not sure how many pics it'll hold with that size card because I have a 512 but mine holds 307 on the best quality and over 630 on the lowest so a 128 is probably 100-200 pics less I'd assume. I'll attach a picture I took of it last night, lol it's not the best since it was dark out and I didn't center it well but it shows a lot of detail. Canon's are probably a little bit better but they're almost double the price and I found that the kodak was a little easier to use.

Uh, Canons are VERY simple to use. VERY user-friendly, I taught myself how to use it.

Out of the 2, I'd pick neither. Get a Canon :D

They're very simple to use, I know that. It's not as if If said they weren't, all I said was that the kodak was a bit easier. Canon's were my first choice but as I was playing around with both a Canon and mine they didn't really seem to be a whole lot different except for that fact that the Canon was a lot more expensive.

I found the Canon PS80 for around $40 more than the price she listed. You said they "aren't quite as simple to use" which I disagree, because i've used numerous Kodaks and Canons, Canons were easier and IMO better quality.

Anyways, I remember using my friend's Kodak camera and one thing that I noticed about it right away was it's durability. It felt VERY plastic-y and cheap, like things were lose inside.

What a like most about my Canon is the swivel LCD screen, works well for different angles. :)

Rachel, If I were to spend the money again i'd go for a Canon, Nikon, or Olympus... in that order. However, I probably take more pictures than you so something like the Kodak would be okay for pictures of people, dorms, ect.

WHOO HOOO...

I couldn't wait and go to the stores, so I looked at Ebay again.. and I got LUCKY and look what I GOT...

http://www.globalpct.com/pictures/KodakDX4530/Image01.jpg

I AM LITERALLY JUMPING UP AND DOWN... I got so lucky!! This camera is BRAND NEW, sealed and unopened!! AHHH!!

$179.. and originally in stores, they're at nearly $400!!

Hmmmm.. I wonder if it's a small sized camera.. or just a decent sized... I think it is the same size as the 4.0 MP I looked at the other day.. very nice, too.. but I just had to go for the 5.0..

I enjoyed reading through this thread as we are planning on getting my sister a digital camera for her birthday. We have a Cannon powershot A80, but it's a little too expensive for us to buy her. We are looking for something $200 or less.
