My 16 year old has always had a bit of a "problem". When it first happened to my mother, it scared her to death, but now we know what it is, and it's just amusing.

When he goes into a really, really deep sleep, he seems completely DEAD!

You can grab the scruff of his neck, and drop it, and he won't wake up. He just... rolls. At one point, while trying to wake up up, I shook his head back and forth vigorously.. I got drooled on, but no wakey wakey!

Anyone else have a cat that sleeps -that- heavily? My others don't do it, but he certainly does. You can scream in his ear, shake his head, nothing wakes him.

Oh yeah. Lamoni, our big boy cat, used to come and sit on my wife's lap while she was in the batthroom.

Wife. Bathroom. Lap. OK, so now you got the picture of what she was doing at the time.

He would drift off into the deepest sleep. She could not wake him. One time when she had to get up she just rolled him over and gently let him down onto the floor. He looked dead. She got a handfull of water from the sink and splashed him. :p THAT woke him up!

You hear that cats have nine lives. Oh no. Not true. Many more than that. Lamoni uses up lives just sleeping.

He got over that by the way. He will be 15 in a month or two.

LoL. Yes. I’ve seen Leo sleep like that a couple of times.. although perhaps not –that- deep. Perhaps it will get “worse” when he’s older. He’s only about 2 years old. .. But I can hold one of his legs and when I let go it just drops right down again as if he’s dead.

It freaked me out as well when I saw it for the first time.. I totally panicked and started shaking him.. LoL. That sure earned me one grumpy kitty. :D

Ragnar,scraed me,one time,as I thought,that he had just died.After seeing BJ,die,in front,of me,I was terrified,when he was so still.Then Scrappy 2,jumped up beside him,and he woke up.But sometimes,his reactions,are very slow,maybe,that is normal,for a big Cat!
