Cinco de Mayo! We haven't had Mexican food in awhile! Corona's are good but Margarita's [aka Slushies] go perfectly with anything North OR South of the border. Let me see if any avocado's are ripe in the back yard, I'll start some guac. ohboyohboyohboy *runs out the back door drooling*

OMD, thanks for opening up the bar Julie. I've got a busy day today so may not be here for a long time, but will have a good time. :D

I'll take a Corona to go please. Mario, time to get your swimming trunks on and no diving in the deep end.

Laurie, wipe up that drool off the floor......sheesh, you can dress her up but can't take her anywhere.... ;) :D

Just so no one feels left out I'll also prepare an icy pitcher of agua fresca, a yummy combination of water, fresh fruit, and sugar - almost frozen. hmmmm, sort of sounds like a virgin Margarita doesn't it. Hi Slick. By Slick. Nice serape you're almost wearing Slick :p ;) heh heh heh

While I know the Thursday thread is not normally pet related....would you all consider a slight change for THIS Thursday? My old man, Tex, turns 14 tomorrow, and frankly, I think this will be his last birthday here with me. I am going to do a thread in Cat General, but, would you all raise your glass to Texas, the kitty that started all this tuxie madness so many years ago?

Thanks!

Oh no, Jo!! I know somewhere it was mentioned in passing that Tex was not as well as he could be, but I didn't know it was this serious. :(

I'll definitely raise my slushie to Tex! And tell him not to worry too much, Tubby will be waiting for him at the bridge to show him the ropes. ;) :( :)

Neat how Thursday number 105 lands on 05/05/05! :D

Here's to Texas! King of tuxies! :)

A 30-inch burrito managed to close down a Clovis, New Mexico school and bring out the police snipers last week. Eighth-grader Michael Morrissey brought the big burrito to school as part of a project to create a product and a way to advertise it.

Unfortunately for young Mr. Morrissey, someone saw him taking the large comestible into the school and called police. The burrito was wrapped in tinfoil and a white t-shirt, and apparently had the appearance of a weapon of some kind.

Students were called to the auditorium and told the situation, whereupon the burrito-bearing boy realized that he might be the cause of the commotion. The burrito was surrendered to the principal without incident, but not before the school was shut down, streets closed off, and police perched on neighboring rooftops for two tense hours.

According to the boy:

"I have a new nickname now. It’s Burrito Boy," Morrissey said.

No word on the fate of the “evidence.”

Your Tax dollars hard at work!

I raise a glass of agua fresca to toast dear Tex the Tux!

Hello to everyone else...again. Johanna, happy purrfffday to Tex the Tux. The road to the RB isn't ready for you yet, Texas. Have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Well, the rush is over and I can relax a bit. I think I'll have another Corona and "set a spell".

Welcome back Slick - there's only 23 inches left in the burrito but there are plenty of Corronas and Margaritas (Mexican slushies;) ).

I'll make some enchillada verdes if that sounds good to everyone (actually, that sounds kind of good to me - maybe I'll make those tonight for real in my non-cyber kitchen)

 I hope this doesn't mean a five drink limit...:p ;)

Julie, just you wait until you savour the flavour of the real slushies in Gini's back yard. There's nothing like it!!!

Something smells good in here...must be those enchilladas.

Oh no, Mario is in to the burrito. MARIO, PUT THAT BURRITO DOWN! We don't have enough diapers on hand....

It's not the Burrito's Slick, it's the RAMPS I add to the Salsa dip, I'm down to less than a half a peck of ramps :( ;)

slick

How about some tacos? I love tacos with lots of cheese melted in them.

Well he sure loves it. I didn't think he'd want one in the bedroom since he's got the regular bed but I was so wrong! He was waiting on it for me this morning as I was getting ready to go to bed. I meant to tell you that was a very nice offer to get him the orthopedic bed(it's like a real mattress) I'm going to try to do that soon. That one will go at his main perch in the living room.

Hello everyone! Good grief, what did I eat last night? I can hardly move today. Losing your internet connection is terrible, isn't it, Corinna? You hardly know what to do with yourself! I'm glad you are with us again.

I'm not terribly busy today, shall I make breakfast for everyone? How about getting yourselves acclimatised for the 2006 trip?Porridge? Kippers and poached eggs? Or would you prefer the standard Bacon, sausage, eggs, tattie scone etc?

slick
05-05-2005, 09:19 AM
Good morning everyone!

Corinna, nice to see you back in action.

Karen, that breakfast sounds good, but you can keeper the kippers. Somehow, fish in the morning doesn't turn my crank. However, offer up some haggis, I just might jump in. Never tried tatttie scones but they sound delicious. Oh, stop with all the 2006 talk. I'm so excited I can't think of anything else. I even mentioned it to my boss yesterday. ;)

Laurie.....secret?? Isn't that a brand of deodrant?? ;) :D

Sara, never heard of Pacifico, but I'm sure I'll be ready for one later this afternoon.

Connie, time to get a new server....hmmmmm....maybe 6' tall with dark hair and rippling biceps...;) :D

**waves** Hi Val, Hi Trev! :)

'Morning everyone!

In keeping with the Cinco de Mayo theme, how 'bout some chorizo sausage and eggs this morning, maybe a breakfast burrito or two? And don't worry, my homemade ones are soooo much better than the ones you get at McD's.

Speaking of Cinco de Mayo.....it has added at least 20 minutes to my commute everyday. One of the main streets I go down is blocked for a street fair until next Monday. I've got no problem with celebrations, but why can't they be on someone else's street? ;) :D

Sara, Pacifico? I'll have to get some and check it out this weekend. Next week we're headed to a motorhome rally where we have quite a few Corona paybacks due and it might be nice if we introduced them to a "better" Mexican beer instead of giving them the same old Corona. ;)

I've got a busy day to day, but I'll try to be in and out. Don't you think Mario is adorable with his sombrero and cha chas? :D

Killearn Kitties
05-05-2005, 10:03 AM
Oops, Once you've finished that haggis Slick, it's back to Mexican. I fancy some of that chorizo myself. I get so confused with us all being on different time zones and this Thursday celebration being five days long. Didn't mean to interrupt the theme! :D

Just to prove it, and because it's already 4pm here, I'll take one of those Pacificos please.

Actually - you can get Pacifico up here (actually, you can get almost any beer up here:eek: ). I'll go ahead and restock the tub with more ice and more Pacifico's.:D

Anyone up for fish tacos for lunch? I was sceptical of them at first until I tried them and they are really quite good.

I'll make some home-made cyber salsa if someone else can find some chips.

Julie, you talked me into it. Lunchtime here anyway so I can play for a few minutes. So what kind of fish is this anyway? It's really quite good. Thanks.

Weather here is purrfect. Not a cloud in the sky and a high of 20...oops, that 70 in your language. Everytime the sun shines, I think of Gini's back yard. Oh, I can hardly wait to meet you. I wish all the Thursday crowd could be there. Richard really is a great bartender.

Eeewwww....sorry, not much of a fish eater and fish tacos have just always sounded like the grossest thing in the world to me. I'll stick with the plain old ground beef ones if you don't mind. :)

Time for a slushie for me. Sorry but all that beer is making me bloated and I hate that fat finger feeling. :p ;)

It's 62 in sunny downtown Chicago right now, and probably closer to 70 at home since it's always "cooler by the lake" you know (Sara are you listening? Remember "cooler by the lake"?) ;) F i na l l y we're starting to warm up around here. Then of course, it's supposed to hit mid 80s this weekend. T&P, I love chorizo! When I lived in Texas, all the Chevrons had the Hispanic women cooking up eggs and such to go in breakfast burritos. That's how I discovered it. I would get eggs, potatoes and chorizo in mine. I still miss that and it's been almost 10 years. I really don't know why Florida doesn't do this since we have so many Hispanics. I also wonder if they still do it in Texas?

Kippers, herring, cod... poison anchovies YECH. Almost any other seafood and I'm THERE. I'll even eat calimari (squid) if it's cooked properly and has butter and garlic on it. Well, I would even eat rubber bands if you put butter and garlic on it  . Gini gets back on Sunday so how can we combine a Mexican Irish meal with drinks for the occasion? Oh, such a dilemma  Happy Friday everyone!

Yes knowing every night where you will be laying your head down at is indeed a great feeling. Not having to get rid of any of the kids to do it was even a better plus.
Although I'm afraid Merlin has had a huge set back on his health Not sure he is going to make it back from this one. Working on it but just not sure.
