I get all excited when there is a shiny, black lab as the Dog of the Day!!!! :) In fact, I used to know a black labby girl named Pearl, and she was much loved, just like you! I have never had one of my own, but I am a Retriever owner having owned a couple of your "yellow" cousins and some "golden" cousins too!!! :p

Pearl!!! You certainly are a gem of a girl!! Aren't you just the sweetest lady, posing with your tennis ball? Those eyes are full of expression and you have melted us this morning. Not only are you beautiful, we can just see the sweetness and gentleness on that gorgeous face. We can easily see why your family loves you so very much. Dearest Pearl, there is simply no way I would ever be able to resist that beautiful, soulful face of yours. What a most precious girl you are! After reading that you are a 'Pointing Labrador,' I had to do a search on the Internet as I had not really heard of that before. To my surprise, I've clearly been out of the loop! There are many labs with the pointing traits being bred just for those skills. I was fascinated to read and learn about this.

So even if you aren't much into hunting, you certainly excel at being the best friend and companion your family could ever have hoped for. I hope and pray with all my heart that your cataract surgery will be successful and that you will go on to chase and retrieve many more tennis balls in the years to come. Pearl could be a sister to my Lab Maddie. Maddie is very tall and long like Pearl and has that big, long snout. I couldn't believe it when I opened and looked at her. Maddie is beautiful in every
sense of the word. She is a stray I got from my vet, was found wandering on a highway about three years ago and they figured she was about 10 months old. I could not have been given a more wonderful gift. Maddie is approx, 77 perfect lbs and has never given us one inkling of trouble/worry or concern. I can hardly believe the resemblance. :)
