View Full Version : Boss rant.

Ugh,

I have a new boss and I really dislike her.

First I'll list her good points.

1)

Now her bad points.

SHe is a computer person. Some kind of diploma....
But had no experience in the Medical Field.

She has an accent and when she comes across a word she cannot pronounce she trims it......Diagnosis become Di-aag- no..and forget about the real terms. Craniotomy is cranio.....

In medspeak the last parts of a description are very important..
You have to know if you are making an incision, looking into a scope or fixing the part of the body.

She cannot spell......vse visera was one I can across in a e mail to me...

She refuses to identify patients by name, It's always a computer generated number....

I have spent years having it drummed into my head that you never look at a patient as an account or a number.....

And during out initial meet and greet she stressed teamwork...

When she came looking for a case I told her that the paperwork was on the shelf behind me and she could find it under the date...she looked at me and said, " NO, you look for it."

I really don't expect much from the people who work with me...

I do expect them to roll up their sleeves and try to work with the system BEFORE they make changes to it.....

P.s.

HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU GET A DEGREE, and a job when you can't spell or speak???

--------------------

Here's a small note to all you kids who are doing the college thing..

Learn to speak, learn to spell.

When you get your first job don't go in to the office and change the world on the first day.

find two or three long term employees and listen to what they say, they know the rules, where the bodies are buried and they'll give you a sense of what you have to do to survive, you'll get their respect AND cooperation

If you try to change the world too quickly you'll be putting down 50 cents to find another job where spelling and speaking ain't that big a deal.

Remember, you heard it here first.

Oh Richard, you know this is all has to do with your female dominance issues. ;) :D

Really, though, either she'll end up straightening out or she'll be gone. I'm sure things will get better once she gets settled in a little and she realizes what she can get away with and what she can't.

That's the truth! I work in the EDUCATION library at my uni. You will not believe how wrong people put their books back (despite the large signs saying 'Don't reshelve books'). Joking with my bosses, I've said we're going to have to give people a test to see if they have a working understanding of the alphabet before they're allowed to check out books. And like I said, this is the EDUCATION library - they're future TEACHERS!!

Almost all of the Association members and subscribers I deal with are PhD's. Not only can't they speak or spell properly, most of them can't read But then they are all scientists so THAT could explain some of it  ;) Some of my co-workers are in *dread* Marketing so I don't even want to start on that branch of irritation.

Here's a great story about my boss from hell.

The department boss was sent two emails.

One was a reminder to send out the stats for the pay period. I got a 'carbon copy' of that message that same day-This reminder was sent out on MAY 10.

I sent the stats about 15 minutes after that reminder was sent to me.

On May 17 that Dept. Boss printed out that Email REMINDER and gave it to MY BOSS.

My Boss, in a panic took it to the SUPER BIG BOSS, who also had a brain f@rt and told the other two gals that I work with to drop everything and work on those statistics.

(I took some IDGAF DAYS and wasn't around.) MY boss left a copy of the email, that she was given, on my desk.

Today she came to me and asked me about the stats.

I told her that I sent them out on the 10th, She didn't believe me and asked me for a copy of the stats. I had a copy but told her to call the person that sent out the reminder.

Because three "supervisors" couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone to speak to the finance guy that I sent the stats to they wasted about 35 "man hours" trying to load up the computer with stats that I tallied by hand and sent out a week earlier.

I LOVE BIG BUSINESS.

"Corporate Lesson 5

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," the turkey sighed, but I haven't got the energy." "Well why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after the fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

He was soon spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story:

Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there. "

She probably won't stay long...

Good luck with her not staying long. Often it's the butt kissers and brown nosers that get way further than they're supposed to or are qualified to. Happens everywhere, believe me.
