 I was in my room and my dad says "Do you know that Emma is outside??" I got such a fright!

She had seen a window opened a bit and went outside! I opened the door and called her and she ran back in.

My dad is looking for the screens to put back in!!

Emma isn't too happy with me, so I am going to put her in her harness and take her out, the safe way ;)

Ewwww! That would scare me to death. That day Giz knocked the screen out of the window (pouncing after a bug I am sure!) and fell out I was mortified.. It scared her so bad she ran right to the front door and screamed to get back in!! That was her first and last experience outside! Scared the dickens out of both of us.

I had this happen once with our cat Olive. To this day I'm not sure how she got out. It was early morning and I went to take out garbage. It was still dark out but I saw a cat who appeared friendly and bent down to pet it. It was Olive! I don't know how long she was out there, but I grabbed her up and it hasn't happened again. It's so scary when this happens.

That reminds me of the time my son said, "Do you know that Ella is on the roof"? My husband had taken the screen out of the upstairs window and Ella had hopped out. Fortunately we were able to lure kitty in with treats.

Also, I came home one day and there were 3 cats (mine) sitting on the front step. Somebody hadn't closed the door properly.

Glad Emma was safely returned!

This is one of my (many) fears as Jonah gets older!! That he won't be extra careful, and let one of the cats outside. :(

i let ashley out in back yard, we have a fence, but i had to cover holes as one time she got under, i went out couldnt finder, then i called her and i heard her crying on other side of fence, i had to sit by the hole and keep calling her to find my voice.so she could find the hole.

how scary!! With these nicer days - I so worry that a kitty will get outside!! Lizzie and Robbie are both so bad at being at the door when we go in or out.

Glad that Emma ran right back in and hope you have the screens in soon!

Sometimes this can even happen if the screen is in the window. One night when my husband and I had only been married for a few months and Saphirah was an only furkid, we opened one of our bedroom windows late one night for some fresh air. There was a screen on the window, and we only opened it a few inches. It was winter, and it was fairly cold outside. Saphirah was sitting on the windowsill when we heard a thump. The screen was not secure and she fell out the window! Thankfully, we lived in a one-story house. :) So, my husband is now outside in the pitch dark, in the winter, in drizzling rain, trying to find a black cat. She did her usual escape thing of running under one of the cars, so he was able to find her fairly quickly. Needless to say, we didn't open that window much after that.

That's scary! Glad she came back in right away! We had a fright with our RB Rascal several years ago, she got out - we never did figure out how - and we searched for many many hours with no luck. We left food out for her by the patio and she came home 11 hours later! Where she was, we won't ever know .. We made sure that never happened again!

Emma!!! What were you thinking??!! That is a very scary thing when it happens. Panic seems to take over the body!
So glad you were able to get her back in easily and safely. No more of that Ms. Emma!

Every once,in a while,a certain Gray,and white Cat,a certaing singing Cat,bulls his way,out,and runs around,for about an hour,or two,just to worry,his Old Dad!And then,when he thinks,that I am worried enough,to get,out the Whiskas Temptationd,he saunters home,for his treats.I am not going,to mention,this Kittys name,as I dont want,to embarass him.
