Hi, I just thought I'd start a new thread and update you on Sunny and Sky's teeth cleanings. Storm also had to go to the vet today for a urinalysis because he has a possible UTI. The vet's office called me and said that both Sunny and Sky's cleanings went well and that they had very little tartar and no extractions were needed. Yeah!!!:D They'll be ready to be picked up at 4pm.
They were also able to get a urine sample from Storm. The test results probably won't be back until tomorrow though. I hope he's okay because he was bleeding and very red and irritated in his pee pee area.:( He also threw up some white liquid two times this morning. I'll update you more after I bring my 3 furkids home.
I forgot to add this information. The new dental product that can be used on dogs and cats teeth after they've had them cleaned is called oravet. You can also apply a gel at home. Here's a link about it:http://www.oravet.com/.

Everyone is fine and very glad to be home.:D Both Sunny and Sky started purring very loudly as soon as they got home. Storm's always purring so it's normal for him.:) Cirrus wasn't thrilled at all. In fact he looked very upset that his home was now being invaded with 3 more cats. Now I know that I'm doing the right thing by rehoming him. It also took only a couple of minutes before the growling and hissing began between Cirrus and Storm.:(
I'll find out Storm's urinalysis results tomorrow. His bladder was so small that they had to use an ultrasound to find it so they could get a urine sample. Luckily they didn't charge me very much for this. Sky also needs eye ointment put in his left eye 2 times a day for the next 5 days. They said his eye was slightly irritated or something like that. Now hopefully all will continue to be well for quite a while.:)

I'm glad everyone is home now. Good news on the dental works and I hope everything is fine with Sky's tests too.
I'm so sorry things aren't working out with Cirrus and the boys. You definitely have tried hard. Lots of (((HUGS))).

I am glad the boys are doing well. I hope the urinalysis comes back clear.

Tracey I'm glad the fur kids' dentals were uneventful and thank you for posting the link for Oravet.
I took Mitzi in yesterday for her annual - stupid tech gave me the wrong date; she's not due until July. However as we were already there, the vet did examine her and found her gums are real bad on one side. She showed me how to massage them once or twice a week, but didn't say anything about Oravet. She did recommend kitty toothpaste for her. We'll see how that goes. Mitzi will let me massage her gums, so I think we'll stick with that for now. Oh, and she got her vaccine too; that way I won't have to remember two different dates/months/times for the kitties' annuals. Now they will both be on the same schedule for their annuals. Just makes it easier for me.

I called the vet this morning and they have Storm's test results but the vet they have today is very busy and will have to call me back. I also asked if a vet tech could call me back so I at least know if he needs meds or not. I would think that if he did need meds that they'd call me asap so he could start taking them so I'm hoping that he's okay this time.
RedHedd, I was told that you can only use the Oravet after they get their teeth cleaned because it creates a sealent over their teeth. If their teeth aren't cleaned then it could trap in plaque and bacteria. It's also a very new product so a lot of vets may not have this available to them yet. I have two home kits and I'm supposed to start them in 2 weeks and then use it once a week after that. Two kits cost me $43.00 but each kit lasts for 2 months. I may also be able to share each tube so they'll last me longer.

Hi everyone.:) I finally found out Storm's urinalysis results. Storm doesn't have a bacterial infection which is good but he has an inflamed bladder. He also had a small amount of struvite crystals in his urine but not enough to worry about. The strange thing is that his urine is on the acidic side and the doctor said that this should prevent struvite crystals from forming. He's going to discuss this with my regular vet on Monday because there are a few medications that should be able to make Storm more comfortable. They won't always work he said so hopefully they'll find one that will. Thanks again for all of your concerns.:) Sunny and Sky are back to normal today and doing very well.:)
