I'm crossposting this from one of the Yahoo Groups I'm subscribed to. No age or sex on this cat, but she sounds lovely. Can be flown anywhere in the U.S. via a flight attendant. Any takers?

Thanks Devon! Doing insulin shots is so easy...I have a few kitty sitting clients with diabetic cats, and with proper care some cats are able to come off insulin at times. No cat should be put down for such a lame reason IMO. :( ;)

well I have 7 diabetic cats laready and don't have room for another or the money but I wrote and asked for info. If they can't find someone, maybe if there was no other hope i could try to foster. I don't know. I jsut can't see how someone could put it to sleep because of being diabetic.

To those of you who wrote for more info please keep me posted if you can't take her. I have a friend that was interested in a siamese and I might be able to get her to take this one.
Is the insulin expensive?

Lisa, Insulin isn't expensive, but regulating a diabetic cat can run into $$$. Most likely the kitty is at the proper amount of insulin, but they need checkups more often than a normal cat (if there's such a thing lol)! Melissa (doolittleky) can probably clue you in better. ;) Melissa...how did you end up with 7 diabetics? Wow, that sure keeps you busy. If I hear any more about the kitty, I'll keep all posted. ;) Sounds like the Fancy Feast cat. :)

I am so glad they found a home.

Lisa I get my insulin and syringes at walmart. I found that this is the cheapest place to get them. I get a box of 100 syringes for about $12.56 cents i think and the insulin is almost $17.00. Depending on the cat's dosage is how fast you would use the insulin. but if you only had one cat the insulin would last a long time as well as the syringes. Like Jan said the big thing is getting them regulated and keeping them that way. Once they are regulated, you would only have to get a blood glucose test maybe once a month. Most likely the cat is regulated but it going to a new home and also a plane right would most likely stress the poor thing out to where it would have to be checked to make sure the blood glucose was ok and not to high or too low.

Jan, how did I get so many diabetics.... it's a curse, I am jinxed! LOL None of them were diabetics when I got them. Only two are related! The vet teases me about it! Then she will say that God sends all the sick ones to me cause he knows I will take care of them. I told her I wish he would send me the money to do it with! LOL
