Ok, so we have this dog that we rescued along with her pups last January. Because of the mom being feral, we had to use the pups to trap her. Once the pups were weaned, the mom took to living under my mom's bed and only comes out to eat and do her business. Until recently we haven't been able to touch her because she was always hiding under the bed when we were in the room and we were too nervous to stick our hands under there for fear of being bitten. Lately we have been able to pet her, but it's very limited. The point I'm getting at is, this dog will never be adoptable to your average person. It took a year just to get her last son adopted out because he inherited some of her shyness. We don't want to have her euthanized if we know there is someplace she could go and live out the rest of her life. We've tried contacting Best Friends, but all we get back is a generic response with info about dealing with shy dogs. Ok, great, but this dog is more than just shy. Does anyone know of a sanctuary that deals with or takes dogs like her? We don't have the experience, time or set up to take care of her properly and don't know what else to do.

You say she stays under the bed, goes outside to potty and
will come back inside again? Doesn't sound like a feral.

No, she has to do her business in my moms bathroom. Thank God for tile.
