Hoo-boy! How does everyone here do it!?

Mowgli and Zelda still aren't on speaking terms with Kahlua (except, of course, to say very bad things to her). And Kahlua still wants to whoop up on some tortie and orangie! I swear she and Mowg have it in for each other!

Take last night, for example. I was just starting to doze off when I hear some noises in the living room. So I figure I might as well haul my butt out of bed and make sure Mowgli and Zelda aren't getting into any trouble. I get my bedroom door cracked open just a little and Kahlua goes streaking out, somehow homing in right on Mowg in the dark.

So I'm stumbling blindly for the nearest light switch, hearing, "Rrrrrowwwl hiiiiisssss rrrrrroooowwwl kerthunk bang smack hiiiiisssss CRASH!" On goes the light in time to see Mowgli bound to the top of the kitty shelves with Kahlua hot on his heels, and from there to the window behind the couch, at which point the poofy Kahlua turns around heading right for me!

Kahlua promptly gets scruffed and tossed into the bathroom, and then comes time to start calming Mowgli down. He's so shaken up that he doesn't even want anything to do with me! I tried giving him treats to get him close to check him out and make sure he wasn't hurt, but he'd just take 'em and get away quick, growling and panting while he ate.

Seeing as how Mowgli looked ok, I decided to give him time to calm down, and went back to bed, leaving the bedroom door open so he could come if he felt like it. Sure enough, he comes into the room after a few minutes - still a little jumpy (but who wouldn't be after getting chased by a little terror through a dark apartment), but willing to play "Catch the Bed Mice" for a bit.

He tires of the game, I start to doze off. Kahlua can be heard mewing in the bathroom, and stretching her feet under the door. And suddenly I hear, "HISS smack!" On goes the light, and I see Mowg in front of the bathroom door, hissing at Kahlua's feet and smacking them. Real tough guy when there's a door to keep him safe!

What a night!

Of course, this morning, Mowgli was all snuggly and sweet and back to his old self, and you could just tell he was going, "Traumatic experience last night? What traumatic experience?"

YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN, GARY. I WISH KAHLUA WOULD ADOPT THE SAME, "YOU LEAVE ME ALONE AND I'LL LEAVE YOU ALONE" ATTITUDE THAT MOWGLI AND ZELDA HAVE.

Oh Lacey! I can't help laughing but my heart breaks for you too.
If Mowgli would stop running from her then she probably would quit chasing him. It's become a game for her as well as declaring herself at the top of the pecking order.

If it was me I would pull out the laser light and play with Kahlua until she can't play anymore. Then I would go do the same with Mowgli and Zelda and while they are all exhausted let them out together. Keep the water bottle handy and zap Ms. Kahlua everytime she goes after Mowg. Unfortunately some of this will just have to be worked out by them and that does sometimes involve violence and flying fur! You just have to do the best that you can to keep anyone from getting seriously hurt. A lot of times the aggression won't be as bad as it looks if the other one figures out to quit running! I would say that Kahlua is building up tons of energy staying in the bedroom and chasing Mowg is a good way to release some of it.

Oh the joys of multiple cats! :D :D

Sounds like a thrilling and chilling night! Yowie! Giz always gets to her loudest play just as I doze off and wakes me up and that is all she wrote for me... NO sleep!

Oh how I know that game - Pouncer and Abby love that game. I rescue her, she gives him a look that says "nanny nanny, meowmie saved me." Then he stalkes away and settle down somewhere close. Then she jumps down, runs over to him and bops him in the head. He'll ignore her, so she'll bop him again. Then he swats back, and she starts screaming like he's murdering her. on and on this game goes. I know they love each other, but I also know she doesn't trust him anymore because of the game. She's always afraid he's going to swat her.

That sounds like a great idea, CCL! Now I just have to find the toys that Zelda and Kahlua will wear themselves out playing with. Unfortunately, they both ignore the laser light. (I think Zelda has more fun watching Mowgli chase after it like a little nutcase.)

Kahlua's favorite toy seems to be that sweet orange thing she chased around the apartment the other night. I can't seem to get her interested in playing with anything else. Laser light - ignore. Dangly thing with feathers - swat, swat, ignore. Jingly ball - ignore. Mini-mouse - ignore. Mowgli - ZOOM!
