Sorry, but may I ask if anyone can tell me what color the first dog pictured on this site is? (Tommy Boy) and is Bleu Moon's Camano Rose's color just called lemon brindle? I really like these dogs!
i'd just call it a light brindle...i'm probably wrong though. he sure is pretty though.

Oh, Jordan.. where are you! ;)
If you click on Tommy's picture, it says he's a Grey Leopard with Patchwork, and if you click on Camano Rose's picture, it says she's a Red Brindle Leopard with a White Shield.
Beautiful dogs, I'm just starting to read up on them.

She isn't a red brindle -- not sure why it says that... She is a yellow brindle. She could also be called a yellow brindle leopard.
Those are red brindle catahoula pups on the left..

Here is a yellow brindle catahoula

As you can see, there is a very big difference in these two colours.
But the other catahoula does look like a grey patchwork to me. :) It's an interesting colour, but I prefer it when it is diluted to blue.

I know this is an old topic, but has anyone ever seen a red catahoula with a light tan underside. Not tan points, but under the throat and between the legs is light tan. I have this pup I'm trying to figure out her breed. She bays like a hound and she is a deep dark red (not chocolate) but she doesn't have long hound ears. I'm thinking Catahoula but I can't find any pics of a red Houla to compare to.

Catahoulas do not have a "hound" bark -- they just have an everyday regular bark. :)
Just to update everyone on the breeder with these dogs, she is not reputable at all. Unfortunatly the thread I made appears to have been deleted (for what reason I am not sure) but the woman who breeds these dogs is crazy -- not only are her dogs not worked or shown, but she breeds them when they are still puppies and encourages others to do so as well.

That's good to know, thanks. She's a mix though so maybe whatever she's mixed with is hound. I wonder what a Catahoula/Redbone Coonhound would look like mixed.

I think the color naming schemes between different breeds can be pretty bewildering! Not knowing catahoulian lingo, I'd just have called that dog a liver with merle pattern.
Seems like 'leopard' is a term used to describe merling, and 'red' is used both for genetic red and for genetic liver on those pages. I don't know much about the 'glass' eye color (usually this happens in some breeds because a dilute factor is on that part of the face).
Having said all that, I love the tanpoint Samantha girl, with pseudo-irish pinto marks. Those swirly merle marks on one side of Samantha's head and her odd colored eyes make her so distinctly beautiful! I read the page for her and get the impression that she is really a most special girl!
This is my first post to the forum. I'm not terribly chatty, nor do I often read forums, but I just couldn't resist after seeing the lovely Samantha. Thanks for sharing that web page! :)

Your welcome but he have since learned some things about that particular breeder not being very good, not seeming to care for her dogs first. (Read wolfsoul's post)

I thought the same of her, too!! Much like my obsession (hehe) with Aussies for their uniqueness, I love Catahoulas for much the same reason! No two ever look identical!! :)
And welcome to the forums!! :)

Suki and wolfsoul, thanks for the heads-up about the breeder.
Every breed seems to have its share of them. :(

I'm still trying to figure out this BB code stuff, so I am having fun with that too. Ha! :p
I agree with you about the love for distinctly marked dogs! But (heh) my dogs are all *fawn* Anatolians now. lol :D
And welcome to the forums!! :)
Thanks Jessika!

You have pretty much described my Catahoula perfectly.
