Help with a teething pup!

Dear Pup Landers:

My sweet doggie, Bijou, is about 5 months old and constantly teething. I found one of her baby teeth a few weeks ago and saved it, it's so cute! But this morning, there's blood when Bijou is chewing on things and I'm guessing (hoping?) it's just from a loose baby tooth that's too stubborn to fall out just yet. Does this sound right? She's happily chewing her toys and such without any difficulty, but there's some blood on her paws from playing/chewing and it makes me feel a little sad! I know just a tiny amount of blood can seem like a lot more when mixed with all that doggy-drool, so I'm not concerned that there's a lot of blood, but I didn't notice this with when any of her other baby teeth came out.

Please let me know if this is normal puppy stuff!

I don't know if it is normal, but something I did when my dogs were teething was give them ice cubes instead of hard chewy toys.
You could ask your vet to make sure there's nothing wrong.

yeah, it does look like alot of blood...but it's probably not as bad
as it looks...MAXIMUS had a stuborn molar that i had to pull out,
because it was hurting him...and he was chewing on any thing and everything trying to make it feel better...and yes, ice is good...i also froze hot dogs...popcicles are too soft...find an odd shaped bowl or something that's long enough to hold on to for a while(make a big ice cube)...MAXIMUS' choppers were really strong even then...:p

She may have sensitive gums.I think its O.K if they bleed a little bit,but not alot.I would call the vet to make sure.:)
My RB beagles gums used to bleed when she chewed on bones,but not alot.

Sorry this may be a little late.... but try taking a cloth wash rag or a small rag, and get it wet, splash it with chicken broth or beef broth, and freeze it. (before sticking it in the freezer, make sure it's in a good shape for the puppy to chew on it once it's frozen)
Give it to the pup and let her chew away!!
Also you can take a raw hide and soak it in water and let it get soft, then let her chew on it, when their teeth are comming in they like to chew on things that massage their gums, so something Sort of soft, so they can sink their teeth into it, will make them feel better!!

The blood is normal. Nothing to worry about!

The wash cloth idea works great! It saved many shoes when my dog was teething! Just watch out they don't chew it on the carpet.
