Well, yesterday I took Mishi in for his annual exam, bloodwork and vaccine. He's down to 14.2 lbs. (from 14.5), which I guess is okay, although we don't want him to lose any more. He is lean for his size. We are still monitoring his kidneys which the vet says are still abnormal for such a young cat, and he's still on the K/D. I have to call tomorrow to get the blood work results. He is kinda punky today, but the vet said that's to be expected from the vaccine.

He IS my weird boy. A couple of months ago, all of a sudden he stopped drinking water out of his bowl, insisting that he ONLY have fresh water flowing from the tap. It is a pain, but he's so cute about it I can't get mad at him. I did buy one of those Pet Fresh flow (don't remember the exact name) fountains. First he played with the water, he's sipped at it a couple of times, but he still seems to prefer the fresh-from-the-tap water. I'm happy to be his slave, but it does concern me as I will be out of town for several days at the end of June. I just hope he gets used to the fountain by then, or I'll have to let my critter sitter know he must have fresh-flowing water from the tap.

Today is also the two-year anniversay of my RB Goldie's death day. Yesterday at the vet's, Mishi and I were in the same room and he was examined on the same table that I last saw Goldie laying on. <sigh> Two beautiful golden kitties and I'm SO happy that I adopted my Mishi boy. Goldie will never be replaced, but Mishi sure does fulfill my desire to schmoozle golden fur.

{{{gentle hugs to you}}}

So glad that Mixhi seems to be doing well; but what a bittersweet anniversary for you!

{{{Hugs to Mishi, too}}}

Chester also like his fresh water from the tap but he will drink for a bowl too.

I hope that Mishi's blood work comes back normal and that he learns to drink out of the pet fountain.:) Have many many more happy and healthy years Mishi.:D

I wish I'd know your lovely Goldie.

Well Mishi's blood results are still not normal, but we kind of expected that as we know his kidneys are bad - how bad, the vet said she's calilng in a kidney disease expert to go over Mishi's test results with and we'll see where we go from here. Right now he's to remain on the K/D and she'll maybe change up his diet - something about his Ph. levels being off in his urinalysis - I didn't really understand all that she told me, except that his results are a little off from normal - not a lot, but enough to cause concern. No crystals or stones, that much she did say. I should hear back from her later this week. My poor big boy, although you wouldn't know anything is wrong with him - he's back to being my big, silly boybee, pestering his sister and jumping in and out of the bathtub. :rolleyes:

I'm sorry to hear that Mishi's test results aren't normal. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent your way. Hopefully a new diet will help improve his ph levels. Please keep us updated.
