Maggie had the same experience today about 5:30pm.:(
I called Smokey & Maggie back in after 1/2 hr in the back yard.
Maggie was laying on the ground & wouldn't move. She was
shaking like a leaf & whining. My Vet is close by and open till 6pm,
so I called right away & took her over.

The Dr did x-rays this time & it does show a foreign body in her
insides. (a linear foreign body) The Vet feels like Maggie will pass
this on her own & doesn't want to rush to surgery right now.
She has to stay overnight at the vets & they will feel her stuff to
bulk up her stool & check her poops in the morning. Her intestines
are very irritated he feels. If anything changes Maggie will be right
where they can help her.

I want Maggie to get better, but it sure hurt to leave her there.:(

Gosh, thanks Prayer Pups. This momma is worried.:(

This stuff has evidently been inside Maggie all week. The Dr.
was surprised that she was still eating every day. Maggie is
naturally a little live wire & me & Smokey miss her a lot already.:(

Prayers are very much appreciated . Liz & Smokey.

Get well Maggie, and pass that bad object out so
you will not need any surgery.

Liz,

I know you and Smokey must be missing Maggie terribly. I hope whatever it is inside her comes out naturally and she doesn't have to end up having surgery.

I'll be thinking of your little girl and saying a prayer that all will be ok.

BIG {{{HUGS}}} to you tonight:)

I hope and pray Maggie gets better without any surgery. It is very hard to leave one of your furkids overnight. Hopefully the time will pass quickly and she will be home with you.

Any News on Maggie?!?!:(

Maggie's home.:D :D I'm so happy. She did pass some stuff
this morning with the Drs help. It was a long rope-like or vine
like stuff mixed in with her poo. She pooped again after she came home & ran around the yard a little with Smokey. Her little tush
is still pretty sore & she acts uncomfortable after she goes.

The Vet said it will take some time for her intestines to settle down from all this. Maggie's sleeping now next to me. Poor baby
is tuckered out.The Vet Tech said they walked her all over the
place this morning trying to see if she would go on her own.:D

Thank you for all the prayers & good wishes. Liz.

Did the Vet TELL you what he thought it was??
Knowing WHAT it was might help you to determine HOW she got it.

And did they X-ray to be sure it's ALL out?

Certainly hope this is the LAST "foreign stuff" that
Miz Maggie manages to ingest!

MAGGIE ~
Plain ole DAWG Food doesn't "hurt" comin out! :p

Wow. Don't you wish you'd just once catch them in the act of eating something they shouldn't ? At least you's know what
it was.:)

Phred,

No, he didn't take x rays afterwards. He said he's sure that Maggie will be able to pass anything left over. Didn't say what
it WAS, just what it looked like. I know it was strong enough that
it couldn't be pulled apart. I did trim some old growth of vine like
stuff from one fence last week, but she didn't show any interest in it then.

She is still sore & will sit or lay down right after making potty.:(
The Vet said I should hang around & watch her potties for a couple more days.

Glad to hear Maggie is home and feeling somewhat better! I just saw this thread today and I'm sorry I missed it. I know how terrifying it is to leave them overnight...As much as you tell the vet, "call me, call me, call me, anytime" it's such a scary experience to leave them there and not have them in your safe embrace.
Duncan used to eat sticks when he was younger and ended up in the hospital once for it also. That and he would pull burrs out of his tail himself and accidentally swallowed some.
I'm really happy to hear she is home and no surgery was needed! I'm sorry her fanny hurts her. Can you put some preparation H on it? The vet had we do that for Duncan when he was feeling under the weather.

Maggie, stop eating stuff and scaring your Mom!! :)

Liz, I only read your post right now. I'm so sorry Maggie gave you such a scare, but I'm very happy to read that the problem seems to be solved.
Get well soon, sweet Maggie!

Maggie is acting very much better today. She doesn't seem
to be so uncomfortable any more. Ate & played normally and
seems to have a little more pep today.:D I'll probably keep my
eye on her for a while yet. :rolleyes:She's still very much a baby.
