Hi all, I have a kitten, her name is Star. She is a Ragdoll mix and the light of my husband and my life. We got her on April 1. An older couple gave her to us and she was not completely weaned but was eating solid foods and was litter box trained. Well we got her home and she did eat some canned cat food. The next day, she vommited yellow clear liquid and she would not eat anything for me. I had asked the owner what she'd been feeding the kitten so I didn't change the diet so drastically so I bought the same food, anyway I tried wet kitten chow, wet canned cat food, semi wet canned cat food, I tried warming it, I tried kitten milk, I tried chicken broth, I tried combinations, and she ate a little bit a the dry kitten chow but not enough. She plays and acts like a normal kitten . She doesn't act sick. This morning she vommited again the same yellow liquid, and went along playing but would not eat for me. What can I do? Why is she vommiting? Could it be she is missing her siblings? Am I being paranoid?

She's going to the vet tomorrow morning for her first examination and boosters. So I know I can ask but as other cat parents should I be worried? I am really I first time cat mommy, before I always had my own parents for help, this time, I am on my own.

I posted to your other thread Annie. I am not sure about the vomiting:( I am glad she is going to the vet tomorrow. Maybe it is all normal upset at leaving her home and coming to her new one. You are right to be a nervous Meowmie as we all are. I hope everything is just normal. I would, however - stick with just the food she is used to and not a variety right now.
Hugs!!

I woudn't get too worried just yet meowmie. I'm glad she has a vet appointment tomorrow though so you can dicuss all the problems with them.

If you are giving her the same food that she was eating before then problems shouldn't be from a change in diet. I always mixed canned food with a little dry to get them going but you have already done that. I'm sure a lot of the problem is stress and being taken away from her momma. I have always thought they should stay with mom until they were at least 8 weeks old but that's just me. Most people pull them earlier.
One thing that most of us have found kittens can't seem to resist is human baby food. Chicken or veal baby food really seems to appeal to cats and kittens. That's how several of us got some pretty sick kittens eating. You might want to give that a shot. I gave straight baby food for a few days then began mixing it in the dry food and slowly weaned them off of baby food.

Keep doing what your doing until the vet visit tomorrow. I'm sure she needs to be wormed as well. She will be fine until then. Give her lots of love and make sure you keep us posted on how she is doing.

Thank you for the replies. I sure have been one worried Meowmie. I feel like I have been holding my breath. Anyway, maybe it is just stress. She is playing and has the energy as a normal kitten would, I can hardly keep up with her. She has been following me around all morning meowing for me to hold her so I think she is missing her mom and her siblings. I am loving her and holding and giving her hugs and lovings. I got some kitten milk, and a medicine giver and that seemed to help a lot. I also got some Special kitty food beef in gravy and she ate a little of that. The milk in the bottle ( Debbie, like your kittens, she would not have any of that either) Baby food sounds like a good idea. I have not thought of that. Thanks again.

I can understand soo well that you're worried! We all are, when something seems to be wrong with our kitties.

Not sure about the vomiting though... Could be that she's just nervous because of her new home, but it's good that she's going to the whitecoats tomorrow. Hope she'll be alright!

Please keep us posted!
