View Full Version : Thursday #99 bottles of beer on the wall

gini

I will open up the bar this week as I think Richard may be busy at work.

The place smells musty - think I had better get the place cleaned up a bit before the crowd shows up.

Help yourself to drinks........I'll make sure everything is in stock.

Hmmm, drink of the day? Guess it is beer..........what's your favorite?

Naked beer! Mmmm....haven't had any in awhile....have to send Terry to New Glarus, WI one of these days.....;)

<sniff, sniff>Yeah, smells like the place needs a good spring cleaning. I'll go get the mop and bucket out of the L & F, Gini. Geesh, now that we open the blinds and let the sun shine in, you can really see where Mario has splashed cherry juice just everywhere! Maybe I'll add a little bleach to the wash water.....

Hi, Gini! I'll hazard a trip to the L&F for the cleaning supplies. Cherry juice all over the place?! I need a strong lime diet coke after these past few days! (almost carless in Pittsburgh!)

Pit Chick

Well, I'm not much of a beer drinker, but since it's only cyber beer, I'll have a Heineken. I named my ferret after it so might as well see what it tastes like huh.

Mario, you're going to have to clean the cherry juice off of the fan blades since I'm sure you were the one swinging from it with the bowl of cherries.

I'm so excited (don't laugh) my boyfriend is getting out of jail Friday. It's going to be a very Good Friday!!:D ;) :D

I'm more of a tequila drinker but if it has to be beer then it would be Corona with a lime please.:D

gini
03-23-2005, 12:56 PM
Here, let me take off these rubber gloves and wash my hands and serve everyone.

Richard does it so much better than I will.

Man is it ever s t i c k y around here. Mario, would you know anything about that?

You don't want beer? No problem, the bar is always stocked so you can have whatever you want.

I don't usually care for beer, but I had Boddington's once, and I loved it...........that nice creamy froth!!

davidpizzica
03-23-2005, 01:16 PM
Gini, I'll have another lime diet coke, please. In two days I'll receive the autopsy report on my '94 cutlass.

OMD, I didn't know the bar was open.....I usually get to work and immediately check with PT but not this morning. I dove right into work and look what I missed? So sorry for not helping you clean up...after all that's my forte. Anything out back need hosing down? ;)

Gini, I know where Richard stashes all the booze ( ) so I can play bartender for a bit.

Debbie, nikked beer DONE!
David, LDC DONE!
PC, Heineken DONE!
Leah, Corona with lime, DONE! Welcome, have you been carded?
Gini, you haven't ordered so here's a double slushy to get you started. DONE!

Oh dear, I'm falling down on the job......sorry but work is getting in the way again.

A big DONE! for everyone.

Listen, we need to come with a theme for next week, you know, the big 100th! A drink suggestion, but we will let Richard decide.

100 Miles per Hour

1/2 oz Wild Turkey® bourbon whiskey
1/2 oz Bacardi® 151 rum
1/2 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur
1/2 oz Yukon Jack® Canadian whiskey
1/2 oz grenadine syrup
2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur

Mix all ingredients together over ice in a highball glass. Shake up, then top with sprite and serve.

Not sure, it's got a lot of booze in it. One shot of that and I'll be off like a rocket.

I am not much of a beer drinker either,
but I am sure a cyber beer will be wonderful.
Especially since it has zero calories.
Happy Thursday everyone. :)

slick
03-23-2005, 10:13 PM
Hey all, just winding down from another work day.....

I'm just going to grab a slushie and sit on the couch by the fire. Gee, pretty soon it will be too warm for the fireplace. **sigh** Too bad because there's nothing quite a soothing as the crackling of a roaring fire.

My gut tells me that next week we will be celebrating more than just our 100th.....and my gut is usually right. With all the sadness on Pet Talk lately I believe that next week will be the turning point and things will only get better and better from then on. :)

KYS - here's your calorie-free cyber beer. DONE!

Sorry for the delay mate, but we are on a bit of a different time schedule!

A Guiness!!!

Done!

Aw, it just doesn't sound the same as when Richard says DONE!

Good morning.....sorry, I fell asleep on the couch last night. That warm fire does it every time.

Guiness, DONE!

Fresh coffee and Bailey's made. Help yourself everyone. There is also fresh coissants, a cheese and fruit platter as well as sticky cinnamon rolls for those of you with a sweet tooth. Dig in.

David ,I will make you a deal on that suburban I have one more for parts too. My hubby is not a truck guy like most Montanans he likes s his subs. i'm the truck gal here wish I had one but I like my Montero . Our son has a dodge dakota. Hey with all your snow this year you NEED a suburban.
Slick , how about a diet lime coke please.

'Morning everybody! My last day at work and then a weekend of pampering....aaaaahhhhh...can't wait! So, to make sure I get everything done today that I need to, hows about the usual - coke over ice in a McD's cup with a straw - and hold the McForty!  ;) :D

Slick, I think we're going to have some remodeling done here at Thursdays in honor of the 100th. You know how in New Orleans and other places South they have the door/windows that go from ceiling to floor and then when it gets warm they open those and it's as if there were no walls? Well, I think we should put those in the bar. That way when it gets warm, we can just open the walls and light the fire and it'll be just like a campfire - whatdayathink? Or, we could just put a nice big ol' fire pit out back and set up a "slushie garden" (instead of a beer garden). Nothing better than enjoying the cool evening breezes next to a roaring campfire with a wonderful double slushie in hand. :D

slick
03-24-2005, 10:41 AM
Debbie, I just looked at your ticker....114 days left....it will be so awesome when we get down to the double-digits. Oh my, did I just say digit?? Quick, get me a bowl of Wendy's Chili. ;) :D

Your idea sounds like a wonderful one. All we need to do is find some big strong men to do the work! Well, we could do it ourselves but it won't be half as fun as holding the ladder...;) I like the idea of a slushy bar outside with the fire pit. Gee, makes me want to go camping again.

Coke in McD cup DONE! (Why is it always in a McD cup???)

Corinna, DLC DONE! For me and cars, the bigger the better. I'd love to have a Suburban one day.

Gotta get ready for work. Later.

In a cyber bar, especially this one, you can have everything you want.

Happy Thursday everyone.....hopefull I can fix my desk so I can get back into the swing of things.....

T&P,

I think that's what I'll do this weekend, stoke up a fire in the back yard and make slushies!!:D

Hmmm......good question, Slick. ;)

I guess it all started because I'd stop at McD's for a coke on the way to work. Then I started thinking that at $1.50 or so a piece, I could be buying lots of cans of coke and making my own rather than supporting McD's - that's when their stock took a nose dive. ;) Other than that, I think it's just that through the years McD's cups have proved to be the most reliable - and the perfect size. A large coke comes in a 32 oz cup but with ice, two 12 oz cans of coke fit perfectly! And their lids are reliable also. I've tried cups and lids from "the competition" and they just don't hold up like McD's cups do. I have about 7 or 8 plastic McD's cups that I use then bring home, put in the dishwasher and reuse. They last forever and I get my daily dose of sugar/caffeine/or whatever it is that I'm addicted to for a fraction of the cost and so much less hassle than stopping every morning on my way to work!

Whew! That's the most thought I've put into this coke thing for a long time! Think I'll take a green slushie to help me ponder for awhile longer on this whole addiction of mine. ;) :p  :D

Pic of my daily fix - notice that it's quite empty and I could really go for a refill, but I try to limit myself to one a day.

slick
03-24-2005, 02:44 PM
Well, the only time I partake of a soft drink is if there is booze in it....;) and even that isn't too often. My non-alcoholic drink of choice is skim milk....that's my addiction. I honestly don't think I could go 24 hours with at least 1 or 2 glasses of moo jooce.

Lunchtime here so I think I'll go in the kitchen and rustle up some grub. How about some onion rings, cheeze fries and tacos? It will take my mind of this boring green salad staring at me. Thank goodness this is cyber otherwise my arteries would be screaming about this time.

davidpizzica
03-24-2005, 02:56 PM
Slick, an order of onion rings and a lime diet coke for me while I ponder the fate of ole Blue tomorrow when I take it in for an appraisal(Sp)? It's 11 years old, but it has low mileage for the year. (68,000)

Oggyflute

Ok, heres my joke. :)

A farmer named Clyde

A farmer named Clyde had a car accident. In court, the trucking
company's fancy lawyer was questioning Clyde.

Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine,'" asked the
lawyer.

Clyde responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded
my favorite mule, Bessie, into the..." "I didn't ask for any details",
the lawyer interrupted. "Just answer the question? Did you not say,
at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine' ?

Clyde said, "Well, I had just got Bessie into the trailer and I was
driving down the road...." The lawyer interrupted again and said,
"Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question."

By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Clyde's answer and
said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his
favorite mule, Bessie".

Clyde thanked the Judge and proceeded, "Well as I was saying, I had
just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into the trailer and was driving
her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop
sign and smacked my truck right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting, real bad and didn't want to move.

However, I could hear ole Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was
in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he went over to her. After he looked at her, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes.

Then the Patrolman came across the road, gun in hand, looked at me,
and said "How are you feeling ?"

" Now what the hell would you say? "
:D

Good evening all. I'll take a DLC please. I haven't told a joke in a while so heres one for you.(Brits please don't get upset)

Camilla Parker Boles announces shes so happy to be engaged to Prince Charles aand that the Queen seems so happy. But Camilla did admit she turned down the Queens offer of a trip to Paris and the use of a car and driver.

Slick, are we back to tribbles again. Just watch the wheat supply.
:D :D

Richard how about a piece of that film they use on windows to keep the sun out. If it is seen from just in front and not at a distance. Think that would work. I hate people looking over my shoulder too.

No time to say goodbye HELLO!

Double double Tribble trouble, eye of newt and hair of.. what? Hair of Mario? Nah, that's not it. Couldn't stop in yesterday because I was training the new boss. How about them apples  He seems like a nice enough guy and better him than me having to put up with the %itch from Hell on a daily basis. Oh, I just love it...........wait just a little bit and the place is packed and breakfast is hot, delicious and I didn't have to do anything.
You must be practicing for July....you will be waking up to a clean kitchen, the smell of fresh coffee brewing and the sound of laughter out on the deck. What more could you want? :)

Do you have any more slushies? I feel like celebrating! Ole Blue is going to be fixed, to the tune of 2,084 dollars! They are even going to fix the door dings and the scratch on the other side where someone creased me in the parking lot. It's going to look great!

Trev, a double shot for you, DONE! I could use some company right now. Have a seat in the recliner....just don't push that massage button....it's malfunctioning. ;)

Just curious, what time and day is it for you right now?

Saturday afternoon at 2.20pm. A lazy afternoon:D Just have to put on the roast in a bit and maybe knock over a bit of shiraz:D

Geeze, Slick, leave a little bit of Slushies for your friends, huh?

David, that is excellent news! You know that happened to me once. My boss's wife borrowed my car and promptly had a wreck in it. (I just adored her for that). The insurance company came out and said they would fix, this, this and that. Big mouth here says, oh that, that wasn't caused by this accident. The agent just stood there and looked at me.

I stammered, " well, maybe I am wrong......it does look sort of new." They fixed everything.

But that ought to make for a Happy Easter for you David!

Now Oggie (can I continue to call you Oggie??), that Burnese Mountain dog has always been one of my favorites. It is way to large of a dog for my small house.......but I do have a back yard. The only thing that I heard is that they don't really live that long.

Hey, enough serious stuff, Slick if you drank all of the slushies you are in deep doo doo with me.

Slick if you drank all of the slushies you are in deep doo doo with me.
Let's see, two women fighting in a deep pile of doo doo....sounds like a good fundraiser to me! All we need are bikinis and a big crowd of men, **ahem** boys!;) :D

Burnese like a lot of large breeds don't have a terribly long lifespan, and they are prone to a kidney disorder. Which is what happened to my friends first Burnese a year ago. Stil no crying in my cups, so to speak. Better get some more of these slushies done, I think Slick has been getting in to them a bit:D .

What we need here is some hot food, maybe some roast sandwiches, and some salad ones for those not inclined. I'll just pop out the back and bung something in the oven. How does roast beef marinated in soy, honey, chili, sesame and whole grain mustard, with a spicy mango glaze sound?

Good? Well give 15 minutes and I'll go put it on.:)

(Oggy is fine by the way, I'll even answer to oogggyyy after 6 slushies:D )

Couldn't you just use jelly or something instead Slick?:D

Oh OOOOOOGGGGGGIIIIII..............I found some more slushie mix...........shhhh, don't tell Slick.

Slick, a fine pair of mud wrestlers we would make. We would have to PAY THEM to come and watch that!

Now those sandwiches sure sound excellent to me............my own dinner was rather blah!

Australia has some mighty fine wines............they are marketed over here like crazy - good wine - good prices. There is a Cabernet/Shiraz blend that I particularly like...........very smooth.

But for now..........I think I will stick with a slushie......boy, they sure go down easy.

You know, we need a good dog around here.........why don't we just adopt a Bernese and have him be watch dog.........he can watch the fire in the fireplace........they are usually so calm.

So let me see, Oggy/Trev.. so you would be about 8 hrs later/earlier than our West coast U.S. so about 5 hrs later/earlier than I am on the East Coast. So you were already tomorrow last night for Slick & Gini when you wrote but already later today for DavidP & me this morning. And it's already this evening this morning for you. Do I have that right  Whatever, the roast beast sammiches were good. You don't mind if I slashed a bit of horseradish on mine I hope. But morning here it is and I'm starting some coffee and biscuits. Slick usually stashes a bottle of her homemade Baileys around somewhere so take a look whilst I fuss in the kitchen ;) My this place looks clean and fresh! Almost cherry blossom time in D.C. and we all know how Mario feels about cherries so I think I'll purchase a little cherry tree for the patio out back just for our little guy :cool

Thanks David. I know you don't "do" sugar but how about some fresh smooshed up berries to slather around on the biscuits? Or just to nibble on? Later on I may ask Oggy/Trev if I can use any of that leftover roast for something. Don't know what yet but I'm feeling creative. WATCH OUT WHEN LAURIE GETS IN THAT MOOD! You mud wrestlers had best wash up before walking around in here today.. sheesh, just when you think it's safe to get back in the water

Corinna, it looks like I'll have a brand new looking 1994 Cutlass Surpreme! They are even going to repair my door dings and that scratch on the right side where I was dinged in the parking lot one time. I'm also going to get a new bra (for the front of the car of course!)

Plenty of roast left Laurie.:D I'm pretty sure I can russle up a good bottle of vintage port, to help with the digestion.:D

David, a bra for your car? I dont even want to go there.....:D

But I will have another drink to it's good health.

What happened to Slicks jelly wrestling? Did I miss it?

Oggie, if you don't want to think about David's bra............then I don't want to think about Slick's jelly wrestling:D :D

Let's both have a drink to everyone's health!:D

OK, I know it's early and coffee is just perking but what's this about Slicks muddy bra? Oh never mind, don't think I really want to know  Oh wait, it's Easter Sunday isn't it? Maybe it's not mud.. IT'S MELTED CHOCOLATE EASTER BUNNY EARS!! Ham is OK but I prefer a roast leg of lamb today with fresh spring asperagoose. A touch of mint with the lamb and some new spring taters roasted along the side. mmmmmm-gud

Laurie, the bra business came from when I mentioned that in repairing my car, they are giving me a new bra for the front of my car. Also, I can use a cup of that fresh coffee!

03-27-2005, 02:22 PM
Well yes David, a car bra.. now that makes perfect sense. Is your car bra made out of chocolate or mud? Or, what was that.. jello? Whatever you say David  Silly :p Doesn't that leg-o-lamb smell yummy! MORE biscuits for me. Comfort food for this day please.

Laurie, the old one was ruined in the accident and they are giving me a new one. Because it's Easter, I think it's melted chocolate!!

OOhh, some fresh chopped rosemary will go good with that lamb.

It's Monday morning, I'm on my third cup of tea, and already getting a bit tired of chocolate.:) Must be time for another heart starter. I just love these long weekends.

Now I haven't really come across chocolate bra's before? chocolate undies on the other hand.................well yes.:D
