Hi this is about my cat felix,he is 71/2 mths old and i have him since he was 8wks old.It has become a problem in my home that felix wont let me sleep at night :( He wants me up out of the bed if hes not tired.(now he sleeps alot during the day)If i dont get up he starts talking(sooking) and doing things to disturb me such as knocking things off the dresser, running up and down the boxspring (on his back claws into boxspring)If i were to get up with him he is fine he would jus lay down.I need some sleep:eek: Is anyone else having the same problem?Have any suggestions?

Have you thought of a playmate? Seriously, I work with a cat rescue and we always try to adopt ittens in two - its saves your sanity, and gives them someone to play with.

If not, a serious play session with you about an hour before bedtime should help.

My Jaxon is the KING of doing this...we'll go to bed and around 5am he is sitting oon my nightstand meowing at me NON STOP till I get up and then he lays down....I haev tried waring him out before bed...but it never fails...we are both up at 5am. I need to break out of this routine but I feel guilty locking him out of my room...

Remember that cats are naturally nocturnal animals; i.e., they sleep during the day and play at night. This is normal behavior, we are merely available to keep the cats entertained :D

I agree with trying to tire them out before YOU go to bed. This MIGHT help them be not quite so noisy whilst you're trying to sleep, but don't count on it. My Goldie would ALWAYS get up on the dresser and start knocking stuff off if she wanted me to get up and play with her, no matter what time of the day or night. I never did cure her of that habit and now I miss it.

Hi,

I tried the agressive playing before bedtime and it worked to get him to sleep, but as for the 5am wakings he faithfully insists that i get up at this hour. When i get up with him before i know it in about hour he is up in bed snoozing himself!! Felix has slowed down alot i noticed since he got neutered on the 23rd of march but he stayed on the 5am scheduale.I guess i can look at it this way....i will never need to use my alarm clock again!! LOL ;)

My foster Marnie decided it's playtime about 5 AM. I make sure that there are only QUIET toys on the 2nd floor!:D

My kits play around bedtime but they settle down after the lights are out. But then I get on the puter after my hubby is asleep and the big one gets up with me but he sleeps in the chair beside me or finds a comfortable place to sleep.

I have two cat beds for them in the bedroom and the big one climbs in with the little one when I go to bed and they settle down for the rest of the night.

They have stayed restless some nights but then they get put out of the room and I shut the door behind them. No coming back in, they can sleep wherever. This doesn't happen often.

Hi Felix!

I'm not sure I have any suggestions, but I can offer you some sympathy. My girl gets me up about 3 am every morning to eat, and will often resort to knocking things off dressers to wake me up if she wants me to play or pet her (case-in-point, she was doing this only last night, and I am suffering today:0) ). I tried closing my door so she couldn't get in, but she just stands outside my door yeowling. It's PITIFUL! Just know there are other cat-induced cases of insomnia out there!

Oh, the things we endure for our furballs. God love'em!

When my son was going to college in Rhode Island, he adopted a cute tabby from the local shelter. At the time he adopted her, the shelter told him the kitty had been abused, that made my son want her even more. Every night, around 4:00 am, Grafix would jump on his bed and swat at his face until he got up. Turned out that she was hungry. He'd feed her then go back to bed. Grafix would have her snack, check out each room in the apartment, then when Mike was just about asleep she'd get on his bed, walk up his chest, give him a big kitty kiss on his face then curl up next to him and fall asleep. Glad to hear that Felix has settled down somewhat, could it be that he might be hungry?

Hi my two girls, Maggie and Emily are 7 months old, they have been fixed and I thought that would slow them down , but that has not been the case . They play and cry at the door all night long. I get up at least 6 times every night to play with them, feed them and cuddle them. Is there anything I can do? Any suggestions?? I tried playing with them during the day, I also tried the famous spray bottle (didn't work) Maggie still comes back to the bedroom door and meows. Help please, will they stop this when they get older?
