Just wanted to post a pic of our Pirahna's. :D This was before the tank was cleaned, so I'll try to get updated photos tonight sometime. :)

Er....Cute?:p They seem like neat fish, how big do they get?

Cass, how many pets do you have? It seems like you have a lot! :)

I do. ;)

Right now they are a bit bigger than my hand. They're in a tank with some Baracuda's too, which I'll try to get photos of soon, as well as our other fish since we just got some really cool special order ones! :D

Wow, I didn't know you had pirahnas! Cool! ^_^ Don't know If i would necessarily call them "cute", (:p) but they are cool fish! I would love to see some more pics!

Their in a 150 gallon. They eat goldfish. :)

How often do you feed them, and many fish do they eat per meal?

They usually have about 30 or so fish dumped into the tank at once, and they eat about once or twice a week. :) And correction, they are in a 70 gallon, not 150 gallon. :o

Here are a couple of photos of their tank. Sorry it's blurry, and excuse my ugly mug as you can see my reflection on the tank. :o

It's full of plants because they love to hide, and pretty much only come out for feedings. You can see the Baracuda's in the tank as well.

Wow, I could never feed a fish to another fish! But those suckers look HUGE!!! :eek:

Aren't they illegal along with Baracuda's? Don't know why I think they are, but maybe its just in my state? :p

In most states, yes they are, but here in Oregon they just became legalized. Though even when legal, the petshops have been selling them for ages! It seems like now that they've been legalized their popping up everywhere and people who don't know how to care for them, or use them to entertain themselves (feeding them fish mice, full sized rats etc.) are buying them. :(

Pirahnas are great fish, but be careful. They can be rough to deal with. ;)


I'll stick with their more docile cousins, the Oscars. :D

Do you breed your own feeders?

NO. It's bad enough watching them eat. :( I'm always saving some here and there, LOL. :D In fact, I bug my bf to feed the feeders all the time. I absolutely LOVE Goldfish!:D

Last week when my bf was cleaning the tank one bit him! :eek:

Kind of the reason I might just stick to fantails. :D ( it has got me thinking though:D )

Eek! lol I was reading a post from another pirahna owner on another site who stuck his head in his tank because he thought his water smelled bad. One of his "boys" jumped out and attached himself to his nose. lol His nose looked awful, but it was a funny story. :D
