View Full Version : Happy about a church commercial!

There is a new commercial here for a local church and it makes me smile every time I see it. It basically says something along the lines of how Jesus loves everyone. He doesn't pick and choose who he loves because everyone deserves his love and you should love everyone equally. The commercial shows all different kinds of people, gays, lesbians, "traditional famlies", white, black, adults, children, teens... and says that everyone is welcome. I just think it sends a great message.

I know some people don't agree with a church openly accepting gay members, and by that I mean the church feels that homosexuality is acceptable and they don't need to be changed. But for me it's a happy thing. Alexa and I are going to check it out. It will be nice to go to a church where I can feel comfortable and am able to bring the person I love without worry.

A lot of churches forget that Jesus said we are to: Love your neighbors as yourself. My Bible doesn't say, Love your neighbors if they are this or that or whatever. Just love them, period.
I hope you have found a place you will love and feel great about going. :)

I wonder if that's the commercial some NBC stations refused to run? If you're ever in the Boston area, Laura, you and Alexa can come to my church! But I know you're musical, so I'd probably make you bring your bassoon and play if you wouldn't sing in the choir with me.

I know which commercial you're talking about, but I can't remember which church they're advertising for.

I'm not a religious person and I don't go to church, but I like that commercial, too. :)

That sounds like a WONDERFUL commercial, and I certainly hope they mean what they say! I don't think ANYBODY has the right to judge anyone else but him-or her-self. After all, NOT ONE of us is God---we don't even come close.

I think it is OUR "job" here on Earth to accept people for who they are, and respect our differences and our similarities, and just worry about ways to improve ourselves, not others around us. I don't understand why some people seem to think they have the right to judge others, and/or to try to force their own lifestyles, preferences, etc. on others. (If they think that their lifestyle and preferences, etc. are superior to everyone else's, and that it is their responsibility to try to convert everyone else to their way of thinking and living, then so be it. It ISN'T my place in life to do that kind of thing, though.)

I don't feel like I have any more of a "right" to try to force MY lifestyle on gays and lesbians, than they have to try to force their lifestyle on me. I think that as long as I concentrate on doing what I feel is right for me, and then accept and respect others for doing the same for theirselves in their own lives, then I can get along with just about anybody.

It shouldn't matter what race a person is, or what their sexual preference is, or what their socioeconomic status is---people should respect and accept each other for who and what they are. It isn't our job to judge others; only God can and should do that.

I've seen it too. I like how it subtly says "Jesus loves you" There are several people at my school who actually go around telling people "Don't worry, Jesus loves you!"

I haven't seen this commercial, but that's great Laura! I think it's important to find a faith that's open and accepting and one that you are comfortable with.
I agree with the message...GOD loves everyone equally...100%

Laura I know the commercial you're talking about. The one with the 'bouncers' working at the front of the church, right?

Our local NBC affiliates won't aire it and it made the news a few months ago. I actually saw it last night while watching TV with Moosmom. A&E ran it.

:)

I like the commercial too.

As soon as you mentioned the "bouncers" I remembered it. I only saw it once and was impressed by its bold stance.

Laura, without reading any responses, I can tell you I am happy, along with you. Just yesterday, in Sunday School, the guy who was teaching (who I respect very much), talked about leaving judgement to God, that we need to do what we can to include EVERYONE in the fold........God is the judge, and my particular branch of religion is accepting of everyone, as am I.

I've never seen this commercial, but I wish I could of. It sounds like it really gives people the message that we are ALL equal, whether we're black or white, gay or strait, australian or american. That God loves us no matter what, and we are all the same.

I really hope that I can see this commercial. It sounds beautiful and 100% the truth.

:)
