i have a question for you all. awhile back my husband bought from our grocery store a container of "cat grass" for abby.she loved it,and i let her nibble it once a day. eventually the planter of cat grass died..so we have not had any for a long time now. I want to ask .... can grow some cat grass by using regular grass seed that is meant for the lawn , or is a special breed of grass that is recomended for cats only. i dont want her to get sick on anything since she is my much spoiled baby. but i thought she would like a special treat again. thank you:) http://abby head shot-18 months old

I don't know the answer to your question. I do know that pet supply stores (like Petco) sell the seeds to grow your own. I buy "cat grass" for my two at the grocery store in the organic food section - the organic wheat grass is pretty much the same thing and MUCH cheaper than the $5 for "cat grass" that Petco charges and the M's like it.

Wal-Mart also sells cat grass seeds...the seed used for lawns is chemically treated, and not a good idea to grow in containers for kitties. ;) Well established pesticide free grass that's cut from the lawn is OK for snacking once in a while. I've attempted growing it for the inmates here, and it ends up being up-rooted, and dirt everywhere!

I buy the cat grass (wheat grass) seed by the pound on ebay. Jazz LOVES the stuff.

The Found cats,too had the grass,all chewed,up,and upended,in about a week,like they did,to the Cat Nip Seed,that Edwinas Meowmie,sent me,one time.Sam,the Siamese,was up,in the cupboard,and had ,that smashed,on the floor,just,asit was growing.
