Eisha is a 2.5 yr old cocker. The last week she has been panting and sitting up at the same time each night. She won't lay down and won't come to me. I have to pick her up. She goes for walks every day, and stops mid walk to be picked up. She had a hernia when she was a puppy and has a mild murmur. Usually playful and my shadow, this has me worried. She had a diarrhoea episode a while back and did similar things. Could it be she is passing gas and having a panic attack???

does she settle down when you pay attention to her?? If so,, it could be a panic attack,, or a ploy for your attention??

One thing I've learned is that Cockers can be pretty high strung when they want to be. While it may be a ploy for attention, It sounds like you need to have a vet check her out just to be sure there's nothing going on.

She sure is a cutie. :) I hope she'll be ok. :)

Yes, she does attempt to get attention, but not when this happens. She has to be close to me, but just sits there looking at the wall or something! I will take her to my vet tomorrow, she needs her annuals soon anyway and I am getting both dogs microchipped.

We went to the vet...and we were right. It is psychsymptomatic. Which means she gets panic attacks which stress her out so much she can have symptoms of illness. The vet said she can either have injections or tranquillizers. But I told her I don't like drugs much...it's bad enough with worming, heartworm and flea pills every month! So she suggested I go to a dog psychologist...LOL...or just try to find a way to soothe her. So I am trying distraction...not saying byebye to daddy when he leaves for work. It worked last night so here's hoping :)
