It's been around for years. It is a hoax.

there isnt anyway to make it go away? The site gives instructions on how to do it (and while I know its a hoax, not everyone in the world does) and it makes you worry some moron will try it.

Whenever I read or hear something and wonder if it is true...there is a great site called Snopes that investigates these things called Urban Legends.
Bonsai Kitten (http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/bonsai.asp) Here is what they sat. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, the internet is one of the best freedom of speech forums we have and some people use the internet for purposes that I deem sick and irresponsible. This is just one example. It is a hoax thankfully but you don't know how many people have actually tried this at home on their kitty's. As far as I know there is no petition to remove the website as it does apparently somewhere have a disclaimer stating that it is a joke and not to be taken seriously.

i suppose if they can have websites on how to make bombs or a miriad of other sick and twisted things, I shouldn't be so surprized. It makes me want to become a serious cat lady and take them all in to protect them from twisted jerks like that.....
You did hear about the film festival cat film....I signed a petition on that one.

The website has been removed from ISP after ISP, and always resurfaces somewhere. But it is a hoax, a "joke," and not worth our breath!
Now, I'm sure more people have kittens who climb into jars (or bowls, or boxes, or - name your container here) they DON'T want them in than there are people who try to put kittens into jars the kittens don't want to be in, but that's just how kittens are!
