I have made a painful decision and must give up Benji for adoption. She is a full gown black and white Border Collie. She is fixed and has all her shots. My parents had found her and could not locate the owner. They could no longer care for her and they gave her to me.
Her temperment is somewhat shy but warms up quickly. She can be timid around cats and small dogs. She is smart and has lots of energy. She is more scared of other dogs than aggressive.
I love her but unable to keep her. I have 3 other smaller dogs that have various handicaps. Their care is needing more and more attention.
I also have a neighbor issue which prevents me from allowing her go outside unsupervised. She loves going outside and to the park. She does well being kept outside but I keep her inside.
I am hoping to find a farm setting home. She does like to to hurd animals and loves a good field.
I live in Northern Alabama. If your interested or know someone then reply to this post. I will give your more details then. Thanks!

What type of issue could you have with a neighbor that would make you get rid of your dog? I have horrible neighbors, their dog has bitten both of my dogs several times, we have a fence up, and we keep adding stuff to it to keep their dog away from ours. We've called the cops and the dog warden now, and what do you know... they finally have learned to keep an eye on their dog! I hope you find a way to keep dog.

I don't think it's a very good idea to advertise a FREE dog
anywhere. Too many wierdo types would take the dog & sell
it to a short & painful life of animal testing, or worse.
You did say in another post that she was not bonding with you,
that she is now afraid to go outside alone & was having problems
peeing inside the house. This dosn't sound like the same dog you are talking about here does it? If you don't want this dog for any
reason, pleease look up a BC Rescue group to see if they can take
the dog. She deserves a good home after all she's been through.

Don't get me wrong I love her very much. However, due to several issues it is better for her to live somewhere better. She is soo much more a "Farm dog". I live in the city. She isn't getting to live up to her full capacity if she stays with me.
Right now, to keep her is just selfish on my part. She was to go to my brother but he didn't come get her. He has a place in Arizona with plenty of hiking. I broke my ankle last year walking my dogs. Had surgery and unable to walk the dogs very well. She has more energy and healthier than my other 3 dogs.
My neighbor issue started after getting Benji because my neighbor is scared of "Big" dogs. He started getting nuisance orders on me. I built a privacy fence between us. His dogs bark constantly and bit me.
Benji is now scared to go outside since this started. This isn't good for her and I never know what my neighbor will do next. Already have BB gun holes in my windows. The neighbor leaves the other dogs alone but for her. He likes Dirtnap now even though he complained about him and try to make me get rid of him. Didn't work!
I feel that Benji would have a better home if she could run freely and act as a Border Collie. I don't think I can provide that. I've tried. I want her to be all she can be. I have 3 other adopted/rescued dogs that have lived up to their potential and very happy. I can see in Benji's eyes she needs more.

Sounds like you need to call the cops on this neighbor.

I live near the North Alabama place and gave them a call. May be on the list. I also know someone in Animal control who knows Benji who is looking also.
I promise you I am the LAST person who wants to put dog up for adoption. I even adopted a dog that is old, blind, and deaf! I then went looking for another dog of the same type just for him! However, that is when Benji came into my life.
I did call the police on my neighbor several times. He is one of those rednecks who likes drama in his life and having issues with neighbors makes him a "Big man". He even picked on my elderly neighbor and try to steal some of her land like he did mine.
I think he is able to listen in on one of my cordless phones. Because he tells the police the same story I tell them.
Since the whole "We are going to have to do something about your dogs..." threat hasn't worked he's moved on to practicing guitar with his amp loud and fixing his motorcycle. I've turned to religous music blasting out of my boom box in that direction. I figured he could use some Jesus!;)
His dogs still bark/yipp and his mother's dog runs loose into my yard. She lives next door to him. We ALL live next to the Animal Control officer. So he knows exactly what is going on and has told my neighbor to leave me alone. I feel sorry for his poor dogs!

Scooby4,
Just wanted to say that your neighbor sounds like a real clod. You have my sympathy.
I didn't want you to think I meant to imply you didn't care for
this dog, but there is no shame in re-homing a dog. It's far
better to help Benji go where she has the best chance to find
her forever home. A place where she can really blossom with
folks who adore her for herself.:) Very best of luck to both of
you. I do hope one of the Border Collie groups can help her on
her journey to a forever home.
