There should be a special place in hell for the people responsible for this.

Dog Found Dead in Muncie; Apparent "Bait" for Dog Fight Training.

(Muncie - February 11, 2005) -- Investigators in Muncie found a dead dog bound and stuffed in a trash can.

They say it looks like a case of dog fighting, and the victim may have been someone's stolen pet.

It's never quiet at the Muncie Animal Shelter. Karen Gibson has spent her life saving animals, so you can imagine it broke her heart when she couldn't save one recently. "I was distraught, upset, brought to tears."

A Muncie Animal Shelter investigator found the pit bull dead in a trash can behind an old closed down restaurant with a rope around its neck, and its snout duct-taped shut. Investigators say this dog was used for training purposes, as bait, by dog fighters. Investigator Bob Patterson says it was bound in a way that it couldn't get away. "Basically it was defenseless, whether it was hanged from the ceiling or tied to a post in that nature."

About 50 feet of rope was tied around the dog's neck. Investigators say the bite wounds weren't enough to kill the dog, rather, it was strangled by the rope, trying to get away.

"It's sickening. It's absolutely sickening." That's how Jami Brown of the Muncie Police Department describes this crime. "I have 2 of them myself and it bothers me. It bothers me a lot."

The Muncie Police Department says with numerous teeth marks on its belly and legs, it appears the dog simply laid on its back while other dogs bit it.

"I was shocked, disgusted, extremely angry that someone would do this to an animal." That's the response of shelter volunteer Karen Gibson.

The Muncie Animal Shelter points out that smaller or tame animals, like a house pet, are often used for training.

If you know anything about this case, call the Muncie Animal Shelter or the Muncie Police Department.

I hope the "people" that do these sort of things burn forever in eternity. I hope they experience the same pain these poor dogs feel before they died. That poor dog. Sad thing is it happens everywhere. We get calls about it occuring where I live. I would love to hunt down those %!!#&* and send them to hell myself.

My mom is in the process of trying to contact the Mayor of Muncie to see if they will offer a reward to get the people who did this. Some people would sell out their own grandmother for a generous reward. I'll keep everyone updated to any info my mom finds out.

I never read these things, never. Why did I this time? So I can remember to pray that this person (s) burn in everlasting Hell for this torture. May God NEVER take mercy on your soul.

RIP, poor puppy dog. May your suffering have been brief, your eternal reward great.:(

I can't stop crying over this one:

(02-16) 13:53 PST Pittsburgh (AP) --

A mother was charged with criminal homicide Wednesday in a house fire that killed her two toddlers 15 years ago. Investigators said she and another woman had set fire to a dog, and the flames spread to her home.

Tequilla Fields, 34, was charged along with her friend, Lachan Russell, 29, and they were jailed without bail.

Investigators knew from the start that the 1990 blaze began when a dog was set on fire, and they suspected the two women, but could not connect them to the fire. More recently, cold-case detectives re-interviewed about 20 witnesses and came up with new details.

Some of those questioned had "settled down into a more responsible lifestyle and things like this affect them more now," police Commander Maurita Bryant said. "They wanted to get things off their chest."

Police said Fields wanted to get rid of the dog because one of her children was allergic to it. Fields tried to get the dog to run away and even dropped it off several miles away, but the animal returned, Bryant said.

In police reports, Fields and Russell accused each other of dousing the dog with kerosene or charcoal lighter fluid and setting the animal on fire while it was still tied to the home's porch.

Fields' grandmother threw water on the burning dog, but flames had already spread to the house, police said. The dog ran inside the home and was later found dead, along with Fields' 2-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter.

It was not immediately clear whether the two women had attorneys.
