just got back from Happy and Misty gettin their eyes CERF'd :p and both tested normal :D Misty just totally charmed the lady giving the eye drops lol she said she loves border collies and thats why she has aussies  lol then she explain that she loves BCs but she wanted to show so she gots aussies, finnished one, then decided it was dull and could not figer out how all these supposedly herding dogs that were winning were good reps of their breed when they were petrified of sheep lol so she left that and got into more fun dog venues. everyone there just loved Misty though, she is such a charmer lol for the exam Misty was pretty scared though. Happys was pretty good I brought along homemade dog treats that have a REALLY strong smell to entice Happy and keep her focas on me and not the other dogs, she freaked out only twice inside the building, the freaked out twice outside too but that was hardly suprising when she is sitting in the van and a strange dog decides to come for a visit and tries sticks its nose in the van lol otherwise she was VERY good, although the table scared the daylights out of her, it took almost all my strentgh to keep her facing the docter and keep her from jumping off the table lol

well I found out I out to be very happy that Happys eyes are normal. why? because her sire and older brother went in today as well, here sire is the dog that is blind in one eye, the reason I had Happys eyes checked CERF'd at all. well Haps brother, surge is now starting to go blind in one eye, which is pretty much all the proof that was needed to know if Cajuns blindness is hereditary or not(the specalist had no idea) because its only in one eye there were doubts that it was hereditery, but now surgy is goin blind in one eye, and now the owner of surges litter sis is all parinoid because she did not have sweeps eyes checked this time round so she intends to the next time they come. and I will get Happys checked again when she is older in case it is only onsetting at an older age in his pups.

yay! I'm glad the girls have perfect eyes, and they were so good at the vet! Gonzo gets really nervous at the vets, he slobbers and his eyes get bloodshot :p its so sad.

hm.. just wondering, why did Happy's breeders breed the dogs when the sire has such bad eyes?

he was actually bred quite young, BEFORE the eye problems, and surge is his first kid to show signs of any eye problems, and surge is 6 now. that and the breeder is an idiot lol she told us about cajuns found eye problem and is the one who encouged us to have Happys eyes checked, however she told the owner of Happys litter sis who lives in the states that the stuff about cajuns eyes was lies and his eye sight is perfectly fine, she is NOT a person I would trust about anything.

 wow, thats really sad. I feel bad for the owner of Happy's sister. Happy is gorgeous, and I've seen her littermates and they are all beautiful Border Collies, but that lady should not be breeding! Isn't she involved in herding and flyball, too? you'd think she was smarter than that...

I just hope the lady with Happy's sister doesn't decide to breed her before getting her eyes CERF-ed... if you think about it, that method of breeding (and not health checking BEFORE breeding, and lying) can do a lot to hurt the breed over time.

the breeder is only involved in flyball with her dogs, she could care less about herding lol and she does health test before breeding, and when she bred him his eyes were normal, it was not until AFTER breeding him did anothing abnormal about his eyes show up, and even the eye specialist could not figer it out. however she has continued breeding him since she found out, either telling people that it was all lies or telling people that cajuns 1 blind eye was caused by a "trauma" when he was younger and is not hereditary. I do not like her, her breeding practices, OR Cajuns breeders breeding practices, who is apperntly no better so I found out from the owner of Happys litter sis, who knows cajuns breeder personally.
