I can't even believe I'm posting about this. I just finished posting, saying that my old cats aren't giving me any problems, just my younger ones, and now my Peeka is acting up. She's stalking and attacking my Yodie Yodie, who just got home for spay surgery. I know that cats react to certain smells but she actually started doing this before Yoda's surgery. At first, I just thought that Peeka was cranky and Yoda was in heat and annoying everyone. But now I'm not so sure. She seems to go out of her way to find Yoda and attack her. I don't want Yodie Yodie to be scared. She puts on a brave front, hisses, etc. But she's got stitches and I don't want them to come out.

Has anyone experienced this and, if so, what did you do about it?Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm beginning to feel like I'm living in a Steven King movie. My cats are taking over! ;)

Thanx and blessings,
Mary

I have this problem too, I have one cat that leterally stalks my other cat, looks for him, (he is deaf) so he never hears her coming, then she swats at him and trys to start crap. Of course he has learned to run away. Several times she has drawn blood. So I started putting her in a cage everytime she did this, she would howl and howl, i would just tell her she was not nice and leave her there for awhile. Then my grandson came to town, and she or I should say all of them have hidden away, awiting his departure:D And she hasn't attacked anyone.

Also I have tried to give her, her OWN special time with me. I think this has really helped. In the morning before work, she is the ONLY one allowed to come in the bathroom with me to get ready. Makes her feel more superior, and she does. So i assume that her problem is sharing me.

Peeka did this a few years ago to one of my other cats, Pigeon. She stalked her and beat the snot out of her every chance she got and Pidge never fought back. Poor Pidge lived under my bed most of the time. Then, once I brought my little deaf cat, Creamsicle, in Peeka stopped it and hadn't done it since until just recently when she started picking on Yoda. She and Yoda always got along and I can't figure out why she's decided to pick on her now.

Anyhow, I'll take your advice and try giving them each more quality alone time. Right now I have a sinus infection, chills, fever, etc., so I curled up on the sofa w/a bunky and a bunch of furkids decided to join me, Peeka being one of them. But when Yoda walked into the room, I saw Peeka cock her head to one side and I knew she was ready. I didn't let it happen but I worry sometimes about what happens when I'm at work.

Blessings,
M

That is a Cat lovers Worst Nightmare, and one that I worried about every time, that I brought a New Cat,in.But I have been lucky.so far,and except, for the teasing,of Princess,I have never had a problem, that way.I hope, that you ,maybe get some toys ,in ,that will distract,Peeka, and give her something,to focus her energy,on.

Ya gotta know my Peeka. Toys? Forget about it. All my other cats play but not this gal, not even w/the cat dancer which sends my other ones into a frenzy!

Peeka was my first rescue in '91. My son found her behind our air conditioning unit outside our patio, blood all over the place. Some kids had tried to skin her alive when she was just a kitten and were nearly successful. They managed to get all of the skin off her tail and they also broke it and they sliced one of her paws so that she has nerve damage in it. Her tail had to be amputated and we worried about infection killing her because she was out in sub zero temperatures for days during the month of December. But she came through it all. (Interesting how she came to our house instead of my neighbor's where she lived. When I told my neighbor about it, she refused to do anything about it. So I took her to the vet myself and kept her and her brother, Boo.)

So, I think the experience changed my little Peeka. After spaying, she got really fat. None of my other cats did. Peeka is content to sit in the sun and that's about it. Why she feels she has to pick on Yoda now, I don't know. It has subsided somewhat, though. I could probably understand it if she and Yoda hadn't gotten along from the beginning. But this change of heart has me puzzled.

Anyhow, thanx for your input and I'll keep you posted should anything change significantly.

Blessings,
M

I don't know what happened re the kids. I was so busy and stressed w/Peeka's care that I didn't even pursue it. The laws are somewhat tougher now but back then probably nothing would have come of it anyhow, especially in that rural area. Many people feel that all animals but especially cats are disposable. My vet at that time who has since retired told me that even some vets today believe that cats don't feel much pain so they don't give them painkillers, etc. after surgery. Scary.

Blessings,
M

P.S. I'm glad she came to me, too. She and Boo were my Christmas miracles.
