They always say which breeds "bite the most" but they never bother to ask everyday people which breeds they have ever been bitten by. I know if someone "important" did something like this, that maybe bad talk about pit bulls, rotties, etc, would die down a bit. I know we've had a thread like this before, but I thought it was interesting.
What breeds of dogs/mutts have you been bitten by?
For me
1 American bulldog ( this one was my fault. I was five and I pulled his whisker lol. He was my dog).
1 American cocker spaniel
1 Golden retriever
1 Neopolitan mastiff (GORGEOUS dog -- nice blue brindle colour).
1 sheltie mix
1 German shepherd dog
1 Labrador retriever
1 shi tzu
1 border collie

1 Lab (pup)
1 Sheltie (Kaedyn didn't break the skin though. Thank god. I didn't need another lip piercing :p)

I've only really been bitten once, by a miniature schnauzer. It wasn't a serious bite, I was reaching down to pick something up off the floor at a friend's house and the dog suddenly snapped and bit my hand, breaking the skin and leaving a small scar. It seemed like a territorial thing. My mom's friend had a West Highland white terrier that nipped at my feet when I got close to her food dish but never broke skin.
A dog that looked like a black lab mix tried to bite me when I was younger. I was on my front porch, and saw it trotting down the street and called to it, and it broke into a run snarling at me. I got back in the door of my house and it attacked and bit the corner of the screen door as I was pulling it shut.
A friend's sister's sheltie snarled and bared her teeth at me but I looked down and sat still, and they put her in another room. An australian shepherd looking dog once followed me down the street hackles raised and snarling, frightened me but I just kept walking and it didn't attack.
That's about all I can think of at the moment.
1.large mix (at the dog park)
2. toy dog but I do not recall the breed.

What constitutes a bite? Breaking of skin? Vicious intent? Nipping in Play?
I don't think I've been actually bitten in what constitutes biting in my eyes. I've been nailed a couple of times accidently by Maddie, when she was going for Oz. Stuck my hand in at the wrong time between'em and being blind, she got me vs him. Smarted, but no skin was broken. But that's about the closest to an actual bite, I've ever been by any breed.
edited to add: My cousin's Aussie nipped at me, when I went to pet it once. But I wouldn't classify it as a bite either. More a warning.

I just meant dogs that weren't biting in play, but rather an aggressive bite. :)

My worst bite ever was by a cock-a-poo at work. Nasty dog.
I've also been bitten by a chihuahua and a few bichon/shih tzu crosses. Genereally your reflexes get quite sharp when you work with dogs every day.

Okay. No actual bites for me then. :)

I remember one chihuahua that tried to chase me lol. It kept coming up to my ankles and trying to nip at them. He was so small. I'm sure I could kick him 20 feet and yet he was the funniest thing ever, wouldn't back down. The owner just stood and watched.

Rottweiler. Once.
He lived down our old street and his owner was walking him and i asked if i could pet him and told him i had a Rott too, he said yes then he bit me hard and i bled, it wasnt really a big deal but i was so shaken by it i started to cry.
I would not let a stranger pet Face, but i thought since he said yes that it was ok.
Guess not. :(
1 Jack Russle Terrier- Perky, when my mom first brought her home she tryed to bite my face off, needless to say I am still a bit weary of her lol
I have only been bitten aggressively twice (pretty good for how many dogs I'm around in the shelter every single day). One was a schipperke and one was a dachshund. Neither broke skin.
Love both the breeds!

I love to hear when people don't hold a grudge! :) My worst bite was with the Neo Mastif. He tore apart my thumb pretty badly -- my nail was black for months. But I still love the breed, they are gorgeous dogs.

I have been bitten by my sister's little westie but I don't think she really meant to bite me. Other than that I can't ever remember being bit. I'm actually surprised because I have a bad habit of not having any fear of dogs and when I see a dog I am always bending right down to it and petting it. I know better but I always do it. One of these days I'm going to get it!
chihuahua's
An old friend had four and if I walked in the house they would all attack my legs and were so vicious I hated those dogs and I've never hated an animal before :( Thats why I don't like the breed now :( They even bit her a bunch of times!

I have never been bitten, but my mom was bit by an Akita trying to attack Snowy and my sister was bitten by my uncle's Dobie who just lunged at her when she was sitting on the floor. He got her head pretty bad and shook her around a little, but she was ok.

I've only been bitten by a Golden Retriever, I was playing fetch with her while I was about 7 years old and she jumped up on me, instead of grabbing the kong she accidentally got my hand...

That's almost like what happened with me and mt RB GSD, Leather. We were playing tug-of-war with a sock when I was about 6 or 7 and her teeth kept moving up until they bit my hand. I cried for hours.

1. pit bull mix(it was my fault, I was 4 or 5 and I took his food away from him when he was eating*he was neglected when we got him and starved so he was protective of his food*, he bit my nose off and I had to get plastic surgery)
2. tea cup chihuahua(one of my aunt's rescues), she was just trying to act vicious no damage down.
3.german sheperd *Simon* a rottie got in the backyard with the dogs and Simon was upset because he doesn't like new dogs, I didn't want them to fight so I grabbed Simon's collar, I guess he thought I was another dog and turned around and bit me, he was sorry though, he immediatly layed down and looked scared, he had bit through my thumb so I was screaming pretty loud.

Can;t say as I've ever been bitten by a dog. Almost, though, when I was a kid, I almost got my face ripped off by a stray boxer. Star was bit viciously by a golden retriever that ran out of it's yard to attack her once.

2 Pitt bulls
1 beagle
2 german shepards
a few chihuahuas (sp?)
and a few mutt/unknow breeds
I worked at a vet, and also at a rescue. I also hold no grudges, because everyone knows, animals HATE the vets. And if you work at a vet, it is inevidable that you WILL get bitten, more than once;)
PS- the second pitt bull, bit all the way through my hand, breaking vessels. I had 4 fractures, and my hand was paralysed for several months:rolleyes: I can now move it pretty well, scares are still there. I learned - Never to show a dog a shot BEFORE you give it to him, lol:D

I've been bitten by many dogs at work but I think only 3 have actually broken the skin/bled. Two were poodles and one was a chihuahua. A cockapoo bit me really hard once as well but I was wearing gloves, if I wasn't it definitely would have broken the skin.

I was bitten by a Mini Schnauzer when I worked at the boarding kennel. Schnauzers are my favorite breeds, especially Giants. :-)

I've never been bitten.. which is wierd, because I have aproached/taken in strays for as long as I can remember. And I've been around plenty of bad owners/bad tempered dogs. I've witnessed dog bites, though, to my sisters and friends.
*Cocker Spaniel, twice. He was our childhood dog, a show champion, and the best bred dog you could imagine. :( His stupid groomer gave him tons of burns on his belly, and my sister accidentally touched the area (he had just come home from the groomers and my mom hadnt realized) and he jumped up and practically bit my sisters cheek off.. she had to get hundreds of stitches. After that, he bit a nieghborhood kid when my Dad was walking him, so my mom had to give him to a no-kids home. I wouldn't blame it on him, though :(
*Bichon Frise
*Chihuahua mix
*Border Collie

I forgot to mention a miniature pinscher. He was my dog. He'd been abused at his past home. Everytime I pet him in a certain place he would attack me.

When I was around 3-4 I was bit by a golden retriever. I don't remember exactly what happened but I think I must have been teasing it (Of course, not intentionally!) and all of a sudden it bit my arm and I screamed lol. No crying just a loud scream. I had to get stitches, it was no fun. I was on vacation so my parents were happy they had bought health insurance. Although ever since then, golden's have been my absolute favorite breed and that makes me think it was a love bite. :D

I've never been actually bitten by a dog.
I've been around tons of "dangerous breeds" and not one has even shown any signs of attacking.
I have however been nipped at.
My cousin's malteses are the only dogs who have actually nipped aggressively.

I've been bitten by an injured Rottie I got too close to. He fell off a second story balcony and I was calling to get him help, I leaned down and he got me on the hand. It was a nasty puncture wound with blood everywhere.
Both of us survived. ;)

Labs- numerous times, I volunteer at a humane society and they are the worst.
Skye Terrier- the little runt that runs around our neighborhood all day and never is in its own yard.
Yorkshire Terrier- many a nip to the hand.
German Shepherd- required stitches, he jumped his fence.
Doxie- they have strong teeth
Feral cats- I've had my share of these. Make up the most animals bites reported, also the worst because of bacterial infection.

I have not been bit by an agressive dog. I was bit by a pitbull. We were playing and I nelt on his paw in a way that I pinched one of his fingers and he let out a yelp and grabbed my elbo. (i broke his nail a bit) I had the pins and needles feeling in my arm for 30 minutes. The dog was so upset he bit me that he started to wimper and licked me to death. He wouldnt leave my side after that. If I would sit on a chair he would climb up on my lap (he is 99 lbs)and dig his beak into my chin. He was so upset. :( He did not break the skin, but left a monster yellow/black and blue. Till this day (he is not my dog) he remembers and he is crazy about me. I have him over for sleep overs and I take him fishing all the time. He is my best bud. :)

Never been bitten by a dog.
I have been bitten by a cat (Logan) and had to go to the hospital. I also have scars on my face and arms from when RB Chance attacked me a few years ago. Probably should of gone to the hospital that night, but was too afraid to get stitches.

I was bitten on my ankle by a bichon at work. It was crazy... I was standing a good 3 feet away from him when he lunged at me and bit my ankle. I was just getting him a fresh bowl of water. It wasn't a bad bite, but it did break skin and there was a lot of blood.
That was the only time I was actually bit, but I've had some other close calls. I've had close calls with a chihuahua, dachshund, JRT, and 3 different spitz that I can think of off the top of my head.
Now ask how many times I've been bitten by a cat, bird, or rodent... too many to count.

Bitten daily by my kitties, but as for dogs:
german shepherd
rottie mix
neither were hard bites, more like warnings, although the bite from the rottie did hurt!;)

Two bites. First- a female rottie with her pup- my fault totally. It broke the skin, and yowsers, did it hurt.
Second time- my neighbor's golden. It lunges at me EVERY time I walk by the fence. I haven't ever done a thing to it, and it has been like this for 4 years. It scares me, and probably is the first time I have ever been fearful of a dog. Makes me wonder how I will protect Jonah from such a dog. :(

I've only been bitten one time. It was my boyfriend's 120 lb Akita (not Grizz). His name was Ito and Ito had Addison's disease. His disease was getting out of control despite medication and I sat next to him to console him one day. Ito was normally gentle, but he lunged at me. He put his paws on my shoulders and pushed me flat on the ground. As an instinct I turned my head and he bit the side of my face. I had teeth punctures all up and down the side of my face. My boyfriend came running and pulled him off of me. Ito's bite was only a warning bite despite all the blood and drama. If he would have bit down harder he would have taken of the entire side of my face. I knew he could have done a lot worse and I never got mad at Ito. I got a tetnis shot and the punctures healed. After the bite my boyfriend's family decided that Ito must be in a lot of pain to do that to me and they had to put him down. He was a good dog, he was just sick.

I've only been bitten by one dog.
A Shiba Inu.
Once was while playing, but left a little scar on my forehead, and the other was when we were out walking and some kids were coming along. He doesn't particularly like kids, so to avoid the whole, "can I pet your dog?", "He's so cute and fluffy" scenario, I picked him up. He proceeded to chomp down on my shoulder pretty hard.
I still love the breed, and the particular little dog who did bite me.
:)
