A cat in a sack on his back!
Today I did the pillow case thing with Marty to get him use to being handled. My neighbor (Samanthas former Mom) came over and she took over with him in the sack and I could not believe how she was with him. She held him for a good FOUR HOURS, messing with him, playing with his tail, touching his feet, laying him on his back and rubbing his tummy... just doing all kinds of stuff. All with him still in the sack but opened up. (I think I have met a natural fearl cat tamer)
I DID get in some kisses while she had him, something I have been wanting to do since we caught them. He got plenty of kisses from me and her during that 4 hour period. I also got Wally out in a sack but he was not as relaxed as Marty was but I got kisses there too!
Check out "A cat in a sack, on his back!"

Uh oh..the Dr. Seuss in me is coming out! :D A cat in a sack? What a snack! I'll kiss him, and kiss him until he'll smack! I'll kiss him on the left, and I'll kiss him on the right, if you give me long enough, I will kiss him all night! :D :D A cat in a sack, if you cut him some slack, will take off through the house, and you won't get him back! So hold him and kiss him, and tell him he's sweet, if you don't hold on tight, he'll scratch up your feet! :D TA DA!:D Jan Seuss;)

If a cat in the sack, has been given some slack, imagine if he ever came back? A cat in a sack, is a wonder at that, I wonder now if a home he will lack? Keep kissing, and hugging, and talk to him sweet, as he and you know he came from the street! ;) :)

QSL!! Lesson 101 in getting a cat in a sack? .....and I am here to testify that it is a LOT easier to get a feral cat in a sack than it is to catch it with your HANDS.......OUCH!

I tend to use laundry bags with a cinch cord rather than pillow cases, but if the cat's small enough, pillow cases do the trick. One needs to have the cat in a cage first. Pillow case in hand, take and corner the cat with the open end of the case going over the cat's head, and then scootch the body into the bag, close the end so cat doesn't rocket out, and voila' "cat in a sack, and on his back"! And when he's calmed down you can feed him a snack. OK someone else take over this Dr. Seuss stuff lol!

QSA thanks, I KNOW its harder to do that than saying it:confused: , but I will sure give it a try. Caught a cat yesturday, she is terrified and possibly pregnant, or bloted, will check her in a few days after she calms down a little. Poor thing. Ive had one for along time know I can pet him, but only in the cage, so I will try this sack thing on him  Wish me luck!

Do you like your cat in the sack?
If you don't, I'll take him, Jack!
I will take him home and then come back.
I'll keep him nestled in the sack!
I'll take him here and far and wide.
I'll carry him gently, by my side.
His little sack is colored blue.
I think it may be his favorite hue.
A perfect place to hide and play.
I spent four hours of my day.
I'll let you play with my tummy,
I know what's good, I ain't no dummy.
You can play with my paws and tail,
Those things I love, without fail.
Some people think that feral means wild.
I just want to be a little love child!!!!

That's adorable! It never occured to me until now, that when I first got Logan, he allowed himself to be held, but had to be wrapped in a blanket first. Must be some security thing. :)

The Cat in the Hat was my favorite book.
But the Cat in the Sack was worth a second look.
With kitty cat eyes peering out from the sack.
It made my heart do a real pitty pat.
With scritches and scratches and rubs on my belly
My playfullness turned both girls into jelly.
Should you ever feel the need to have a cat sack party
The cat you should call would be that cat Marty.
I sleep pretty well after all that tough playing.
Even tho I spent time, on my back, just a layin'
So don't be so frightened of a cat in a sack.
I'll probably just lie there, flat on my back.

RICHARD Never lets me down! He is always good for a laugh and I LOVE what you wrote Richard!! Perrrrfect fit for the occasion. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I saved it all and am going to use it one day!!
I showed this thread to my daughter today (Rie-Rie) and it really cracked her up! She registered on PT as Rie Rie so watch out for her posts.. Don't know when she is planning to start posting... I was planning to post some pictures I got from her today of her beautiful calico Annie but I reckon now I better wait and see if she wants to do it in her introduction...

Oh... almost forgot to do a update... I have been putting them in the sack and holding, petting and walking around with them still.. Giz is back to normal so today I opened the door the that bedroom they are in. Amazing! The differance in those two... That look of fear is once again gone from their eyes. Wally is so interested in what is going on that he is glued to that end of the cage closest to the door. Chester slanters in there from time to time to check them out and I swear, Wally wants to play with him! Wally did make some noise that got me out of bed last night only to find it was him PLAYING with a toy I put in that cage.. I can NOW, put my hand under Marty on his tummy while he is in the cage and not get it ripped off. One small step at a time! RIGHT?
Tomorrow, I will move the cage closer to the door.... (working it one inch at a time back in here.)

Good idea Richard! Music is on in there now, thanks for the motivation to do it.. I read them the Cat In The Sack and they were not impressed, or even if that was about them... (Just kidding).. I do talk to them a LOT, that is why I hated having to move them out of the main room... I talk to all my babies all day..

Finally got my cat in the sack, anyways that worked, lately i have only just been talking and petting him and today...........
HE IS PURRING! It has been 8 long months, why now?
:D  :D
Laura's Babies
02-25-2005, 09:36 AM
Why today? Because he is a C-A-T and it is always in their own time.. Congratulations on his purring.. To me, that is a big step!
Are you trying to get him to play? Sit down with toys and try to entice him to play with it (and you).. Get than interaction thing going between you and him. I think once you get there, you become "friends"..
Wish you could post pictures of your cat in the sack!
