This is for a friend of my husbands. I am first recommending rescue, but if they decide they want to get from a breeder...do any of you know of a good one in the Delaware/Maryland area? I think they want a puppy, and they know that we got Dale from a very reputable breeder, so that is why they asked us for opinions...Thanks!

Too bad you don't live close - look what was dropped off at the shelter earlier this week. Don't look at the first group of puppies - scroll halfway down the page and look at the second group:

I always always always recommend looking at the German Shepherd Club of America first and foremost. For one thing, the breed clubs often offer a stricter code of ethics in which the breeder must follow. It's often breed specific, and, imo, anybody who is a member of the GSCA is probably reputable. As always, keep your eyes open to red flags and check out their OFAs, PennHips, CERFs, and other important tests. Do they show? What other activities do they do? etc. Good Luck!
