does your cockatiel scream?

ok i have had this problem with Cheeko since the first day he came home....

he screams whenever it is sunny out, or if he hears any music or bird like sounds....

i swear he has macaw in him sometimes he is so noisy!!!!!

Ours get noisy on occasion, but I would probably not describe it as a "scream". Roger and Milly do make a lot of noise when they hear us talking in another room after being alone all day. I think it is a "cry" for attention, to tell you the truth, and most of the time, they end up getting some unscheduled attention! LOL!!!! :D

Lucy barely screams anymore. ever since we got Picasso he's been quieter and Picasso ans Lucy just whistle and talk to each other, but every once in a while we will hear some screaming out of him.

Buttons doesn't really scream, more of a really loud, sometimes annoying (especially when trying to sleep!), chirp or whistle. Sometimes it does sound like he is screaming, but its more of a cry for attention. lol

OMG Jynelle! I swear, I wanted to set Danny & Evie free this morning ;) The only well behaved one I have is Alex and I used to think it was because she is a girl, but Evie is so loud too. Some mornings, even if they are covered, and the sun comes in they scream. It gets really loud when Evie, Milton, and Danny are all going at once. My dad tells me to, "Shut your chickens up!" :D We have this dark navy blue thick comforter that I throw on the boy's cage and it usually works. They don't do it everyday, but it does happen. Sometimes I miss the days when the only tiel I had was little Miss Alex :p

Oh, btw, sometimes they do it at dinner time. It's like they are demanding I get off my butt and cook for them (which I always end up doing :) )

Hardly. Both my birds are usually quiet, and just make soft and content sounds during the day. SOMETIMES, they will scream, but its only when they want something. When I first got them, I thought they just did it for fun, and my not understanding it made it worse. Now, I've learned to 'read their minds', and when they scream, 95% of the time, I know why they're screaming. If I can 'fix the problem', it always stops. When Muffin screams in the evening, it is ONLY because she needs her food refill. :p If I refill before the screaming starts, all is quiet. If I delay their feeding a bit, she won't leave me alone until I fill their bowls. She also makes one 'little scream' at night when she wants to be covered for bedtime. I 'obey her' at this scream immediately, because I know what she wants, and it works right away.

Popcorn screams in the morning during spring, when he's 'in the mood'. That can be hard to stop...because the key to make him hush during mating season is giving Muffin to him, but that's the time I usually want to keep Muffin away from him. :o Popcorn is more of a whistler than a screamer though. His songs are very soothing and beautiful. I usually enjoy it when he sings. Muffin's not a screamer either...just a demanding little girl. If you can fulfill her needs, she won't make a peep.

They're both very quiet, and for that I'm grateful. I know some birds that scream constantly, but my birds are both very quiet and content most of the time. I personally believe birds scream when they want something. That's the only reason my birds ever scream. Maybe the ones that won't stop screaming ALWAYS want something their humans can't understand. :D

Dawn never screams, but then she is mute :p. She hardly ever seems to be 'screaming' when she does her whisper cheeps though, they seem like casual friendly chirps, except she is more pushed and excited when she first sees me in the morning.

Dusk was kind of like how Poppy describes. Most the time they were chirps, singing, content sounds, but when he did scream it was usually for a specific reason, perhaps a food refill, or if he heard me up and moving around and his cage cover was still on, or if he was separated from Twi... (:()

Grandma says he calls to her every day but I imagine it's a greeting as I'm sure she'd tell me if it was screaming.

Our tiel, Baybi, doesn't scream:). We bought a female just so we wouldn't have the "extra noise".

The most noise she makes is a whistle for attention here and there...especially the wolf whistle ;).

Bennie doesn't scream...... Usually.

There are days where all he will do is scream, but it's only because he wants something.

Normally if his food dish is close to being empty he'll scream letting me know to re-fill his food.... Or, he'll scream if he hears Cami's squeeky toys.

Bennie is more of a 'whistler', as he loves to practice his whistling. Hehe.

He doesn't scream because he is PERFECT ;) and because he has the best mom, ever!!!! :)
