Has anyone heard of a cat getting zits on it's chin? My Snuggy has a really bad case of acne to the point that I have had him on anti biotics and a cream for his chin for a week, it still isn't cleared up as much as the vet wants, so my poor baby is in the kitty hospital for a few days so they can give him s stronger anti biotic and drain the pus from his chin. The weird thing is I rub his chin all the time and never noticed it.

Kitty acne is caused from bacteria. What kind of bowls do you put his food and water in?? If it's plastic, get rid of it and use stainless steel. Make sure you wash them out once a week.

My cats had kitty acne. I used Hexadene shampoo (found at the vet's office) on it. I'd use a exfoliating sponge with the shampoo on it and scrubbed their chins once a day. Then I'd put 2% Benzoil Peroxide on it. Eventually it went away.

Sounds like your cats acne is a little more serious than my cat's were.

Good luck.

Here's a photo of Pepper when she had zits really badly.

They evidently weren't bad enough for antibiotics. She's had a couple of outbreaks. What we do is get a washcloth wet with warm water. Fold it up and hold it on her chin for a while to open her pores (she actually likes this). After a while, gently rub her chin with the washcloth and see if any black stuff (looks like Pepper or fleas) comes out. We did that 2 times a day for a week or so and it cleared up.

Good luck and keep us posted!

:) Thank you moosmom & kuhio98 for your advice on Snuggy's zit problem. Everything the vet told me is the same thing that you both told me. NO more plastic bowls for my boy Snug. He had to spend 7 days at the vets, serious problem with those zits. He is home now still on medicaton for a few days, but looks so much better. Thank you again. I'm really glad I found this website.
