My biting parakeet

My parakeet sirrus has been biting every time we reach into the ccage to hold him. it just started a few weeks ago, and we have had him for 2 years, maybe 3. one of our two cockateal's who we have had for 5 years died a few days before sirrus started biting, so i think he is still greaving. is there any way to train him to stop biting? cus it HURTS real bad, and i am afraid someone will shape the bird off his/hers finger and hurt him!

Don't really know, but hope he feels better. Maybe he would like a mate, or he may just need time. Or, maybe he's not feeling well, tummy ache or something like that. Best of luk.
