I saw this on the news yesterday at found it interesting. Arizona now has a pet blood bank. It started with a dog named Murphy who needed a blood transfusion, but his vet was unable to find any blood in the area to help him. Murphy's owner came up with a plan so that this won't have to happen again. Dogs and cats with univeral blood types are used as donors. People can volunteer their pets to be donors and save other pets lives.
Owners will put their pets on a list and when a donor is needed they will be called to have their pet donate the blood needed.
Yesterday on the news they showed the first dog to recive a blood transfusion and the brave dog who made the donation to save his life.

It's horrible that not all pet blood banks are run like Murphy's.
