A few weeks ago on Christmas day when I got home from my parent's house I noticed Kylie was a little bit red rimmed. I thought maybe that her and Kloe had gotten into and it scratched her eye. It got better pretty quickly. Her eye would matter a bit but otherwise she was fine.
Well, by Saturday afternoon her eye was a little swollen and a lot red rimmed and weeping. The vet had already closed and there are no local ER vet hospitals close so I gave her some antibiotic I had from Kloe's UTI and used warm compresses to clean it. It improved greatly overnite I was going to call early Monday morning if it got worse and even call in sick if I had to take her in yesterday. It didn't look any worse so I waited and called to see if they could fit me in Tuesday. They got us in at 1030 today.
She didn't like the trip there of course! She meowed the whole trip. She got weighed when she got there 17.5 pounds!!!
I thought for sure she would be over 20 pounds!
She has an appt on Monday for a checkup and shots and they were going to just give them to her today but she had a low grade fever so they decided to wait until Monday to do those. Didn't want to over traumatize her So I am sure on Monday we will get the weight lecture!!!
She has a chlamydia infection in her eye. Apparently she got it from Kloe! He said that Kloe must be a carrier and is immune to it and she probably scratched her and that is how she got it. So she has some eye goup and some liquid antibiotic to take for 7 days.
If it doesn't clear up in a few days I am to call them asap and will start something else. At least with her appt on Monday they will be able to check her to see if she is healing up to par.
I didn't mention this earlier b/c I thought it might be simple conjunctivitis and due to other kitties health problems I wasn't sure if it needed posted.
Her poor little eye is hopefully on the way to recovery!
