At about 11:00 this morning, a young moose wandered into the yard to snoop around and take a siesta. Thought I share some photos. Sorry if they are too dark. The sun hadn't come up when he decided to take a nap. Pepper is monitoring the situation from the upstairs window and Halo is watching from downstairs.

What a cute moose!
It looks like your yard in fenced...any idea how he got in?
I love that last picture, just chillin' in the snow, literally.

I was too slow to get a photo of it, but he just lifted his front hooves and jumped over without any problem! The side fence is 6 feet, but the back fence is about 5 feet. He came over the back fence. He walked the higher fence for a while like he was looking for a way over, but he didn't even attempt it. He's still there chewing his cud. Been almost 2 hours now. :D

Mr. Moose jumped the fence again (after leaving behind some "nuggets" for us to use as fertilizer) He left a little after 3:00 p.m. when the school bus came by and scared him. He wandered off into the 40-acre swamp behind our yard and was last seen chewing on a birch branch. :D

I've always wanted to see a moose! There's tons of them in Maine, but I've yet to see one...*sigh* someday! Great pictures, thanks for sharing them with us! :) :) :)

He looks to be a yearling. Have you seen may around? We had several run through the parking lot at work, tourist are out trying to get close to film it . You never get near a moose we had to call the rangers to keep the people back. As we were opening last year we had a cow and 2calves watching us through the front windows. Can't wait to see if they are back this year.

Like QueenScoopalot, I have always wanted to see a moose, but never have, despite driving rounds with Moose Crossing signs many many times. I am so jealous!

My most memorable encounter with a moose was while driving a HMMWV (hummvee). I was going through the woods on a training exercise near Calais, ME (the army uses that area for training a lot, AKA Deep woods, ME), and came around a corner to find a moose staring at me like she was asking me "Hey, I own this place, what are you doing here?". I didn't know a Hummvee could stop that quickly. We sat there staring at each other for a minute, and then she went back into the woods, and disappeared like a ghost. she can't have gone more than 10-20 feet into the woods and you couldn't see her.
