Just wondering if any of you have had your hair relaxed or straigtened??

Yesterday I had my hair professionally straightened / relaxed at my hairdresser using LÓreal X-Tenso. It is awesome. For people with wavy, frizzy or curly hair, this is the perfect way to get a slick, blow-dried style WITHOUT spending two hours blow-drying it. The tecnique is similar to perming, except after they have applied a product to "relax" the hair structure, they comb it straight instead of winding it onto rollers. My hair is now totally straight (I usually have to blow-dry it straight, otherwise it is wavy) , and the condition feels great too! Even my hairdresser commented on how easy it was to blow-dry after the treatment!

I had put aside money to have it done out of my last comission, then I spent the money on Connor's vet treatment, so I was going to cancel my appointment. When my friend Ann found out why I cancelled, she paid for both of us to go and have a "girls afternoon" at the salon, as she had just received a bonus at work. Wasn't that an awesome thing for her to do!!!

I am glad Ann is such a good friend:) But I am sure she enjoyed your afternoon just as well. I also go with two friends usually and we have a lot of fun.

As to straightening- well that has never been my problem:( But I'm glad you liked the outcome. How about pics?:)

When I was younger, I also wanted totally straight hair, at at point I had fringe on which I used to put tape on while it dried. :D These days, I actually like it's a little wavy and the few times I go to a hairdresser I get irritated, because when my hair is dry, they dry it a few more times, and then they use a hair straightener after. If the cut is right, it looks good though. :)

I iron on my hair -- yup, with a real iron. For ironing clothes. LOL. First I use the iron, and then I do touch-ups with my curling iron. The only straightening iron that has EVER worked on my hair is a $200 one that my hairdresser used on me. One day I will buy one of those for myself. :)

Wow, that was very nice of your friend!! :D I would also love to see some pics! ;)

I have never blow-dried my hair straight. When I wear my hair down, I straighten it with a straightener that I bought for like $20... It takes me about 30 mins since I have really thick hair, but it works great!
Mine looks like this:

Great friend!

I have naturally VERY curly hair. I once or twice tried to straighen it... and ten minutes later it curled right back up  Funny thing is I never liked it straight. I didn't look like me! My brother always hated his curly hair and vowed to marry a woman with straight hair "so hs kids could have half a chance" :D :p (he did marry a woman with perfect straight hair and his son has mom's hair so I guess he was right!)

Pics, please Julie!

That was awfully sweet of Ann to treat you to a day at the salon.

My hair guy uses a straightener iron on my hair, and I love it when he does. I have a straightner, too, but, if just doesn't do the job his does.

That was very sweet of Ann :)

I don't need to straighten my hair, it's very straight. I used to curl it from time to time, I think I look sweeter.

What a sweet friend you have!! Yes, do post pictures. I have wavy hair which looks REALLY bad with my hair cut (its longer with layers up to my chin about) and so I straighten it when something special is going to happen. Otherwise I put it in a pony tail, pull half of it back or twist it till it looks like its in dreadlocks and then it looks like a messy bed head. :D It takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to straighten! If i was flipping it out it would be about an hour to an hour in a half. I have really thick hair.

Doesn't it feel wonderful when you get your hair straightened?

My hair is naturally straight, but its been rather dry and frizzy for sometime...so I've been starting to straighten it when we're having company, or going to see people. I try to avoid using the hair straightner as much as possible because I know the heat it uses to straighten hair is not good for hair that's already dry. I do use an anti-frizz serum after using it though. It takes a long time to straighten my hair because of its thickness, but its totally worth it once its done.

I want to see pics too...:D

i love curly hair.....but only have enough of a wave to be a problem at times.....i have daughters w/curly hair and only a few liked curly hair when younger......i think they like their hair now......i think some people want what they dont have....honestly......curly hair would have been my first choice.....much easier to live with, i think.

That was really nice of your friend to treat you!

I have wavy hair and I HATE it. I straigten it everyday, but my friend got mad at me now, and said I look like a freak! (What good friends... :p;)) I now have to wear my hair curly twice a week:rolleyes: :p
