I just came home from bying groceries, and Luna was on her blanket as usual. When I came closer, I saw her tongue was sticking out, maybe half an inch long, but she was not coughing or gasping. Even when I talked to her and touched her shoulder, her tongue remained like that, but when she eventually got up, she "put" it back into her mouth.
My first thought was "heart attack", the second "stroke". Needless to say, my heart stood still that moment!
When she got up and walked, she walked normally, she then started sniffing the bags I brought in from shopping (as usual). I also checked her gums and mucous mambranes, and they are not blue. Besides, her heart has been checked at her last vet visit, not too long ago, and it was fine.
But do you think she has just forgotten to put her tongue back into her mouth? Or could it be some kind of seizure? Has any of your cats done this also (I know, sometimes they do, but only the very tip of their tongue, right?). This looked scary!
I would call the vet, but right now, she's still in her lunch break. I think I will call her later.
